Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Burnett.
Hi Claire, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely. I’ve always been called a utility player. As flattering as that is, it can be hard to narrow in on what you love to do, vs what everyone else would like you to do.
On my resume, I’m a multi certified, results-oriented leader with nearly two decades of experience in communications, org effectiveness, and business operations. I’ve worked with several Fortune 500 brands, primarily serving in the capacity of lead content and operations strategist and have successfully led initiatives that resulted in double digit increases for engagement scores, stakeholder satisfaction surveys and employee morale.
But in my personal endeavors, I like to take every single bit of what I’ve learned and pay it forward. What good is knowledge if you don’t share it? Between my mom, a teacher of 27 years, and my communications training, I am a passionate instructional designer! Especially when it comes to Leadership Development & Emotional Intelligence. Which truly culminates all of my skill sets.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No! My biggest strength is that I will figure it out. No matter what or where.
What happens then is…no matter the role, whether I like it or not…I’ve found a way to figure it out and make it work. Even advance in it. Sometimes, that makes it really difficult to transition from doing what you need to do to survive, to doing what you’d like to do to thrive! Especially when you’ve found yourself in survival mode for a really long time.
It wasn’t until this year, at 35, when I finally started to honor that just because I was good at something didn’t mean I HAD to do it or make it my forever career. For so long, because my resume had a natural bend, I kept saying I didn’t want to start over. But I finally made the decision to leave a career in Marketing & Communications after almost 15 years and discovered that in some aspects, yea I had to relearn, but in a lot of aspects, I already had all the tools I needed.
As you know, we’re big fans of Claire Cut Communications. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Less than 2% of women make it to Director-Level or above within the Fortune 10. I am 1 of the 2. And in today’s creator economy, only 1 in 4 speakers are considered credible. I bring nearly two decades of experience, storytelling, and clarity to complex topics.
With Fortune 10 corporate experience, board leadership roles and multiple certifications, I specialize in instructional design and emotionally intelligent leadership development for all levels and business sizes. I’m also a public speaker that combines powerful inspiration with practical insights that transform keynotes into catalysts for change.
My delivery is my differentiator.
How do you think about luck?
Hmm…interesting question. I don’t believe in luck, but I believe in divine alignment. Meeting people at the right time, being in the right room or right place, someone randomly knowing a person you’d like to connect with… Those are things you can’t control, even as much as you may try, but they’ve absolutely played their part in my journey.
The jobs I’ve hated are the ones that have prepared me the most to do what I do now. And the doors that closed, have, in hindsight, been some of my biggest blessings.
It was a chance conversation that put me on top of my current boss’ radar for a new role on her team. And a chance conversation at a pool party that educated me on what it would take to formally start my business. It’s divine alignment that what I now do personally and professionally work together so beautifully. I’m an ops person and I couldn’t have planned it all this perfectly even if I tried.
