Hi Dan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my career as a Buyer at Macy’s in New York City, where I quickly recognized a major opportunity in excess inventory — unsold merchandise and customer returns. Seeing potential where others saw challenges, I started purchasing closeouts from suppliers along 7th Avenue in Manhattan and reselling them to major off-price retailers like Ross and Burlington.
As the business grew, I secured contracts with Fortune 500 companies and expanded operations to handle over five million garments annually. To support this scale, I opened warehouses both domestically and internationally, building a global supply network that served the secondary market worldwide.
Leveraging our consistent product flow and retail expertise, I launched our own brick-and-mortar concept in Fort Worth, Texas. Within just 24 months, we’ve expanded to three thriving locations across the DFW area — with ambitious plans to scale to over 100 stores globally.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not, a lot of turbulence along the way. One of the first major deals I signed I took over 2 million dollars of credit and sold it to one of the major Off Price stores. Two days before pick up they cancelled the order to Covid. The size of this deal could have put us under however we found other outlets and geographies to sell the product opening up many new channels. When it was all said and done, we doubled our profit.
