Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Denise Scott. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Dr. Denise Scott is a native of Huntington, WV and graduate of Marshall University. Dr. Denise always knew she would be a healthcare professional during her pursuit of higher education; however, she wasn’t sure in what capacity. She began her college career as a pre-pharmacy major in hopes to become a pharmacist. She joined the Army Reserves in 2000 and served as a pharmacy technician in Afghanistan in 2002. In 2007, Dr. Denise relocated to Dallas, Texas, and began working as a pharmacy technician at the Dallas Veteran’s Affairs hospital in early 2008. During her time at the VA, she felt pharmacy was not the right path for her and began to seek other options. One day on the way home from church, she drove by Parker University. The announcement board indicated an open house was scheduled for the following weekend. Dr. Scott went home and researched the school and attended the open house the following weekend. She was intrigued by what she learned and apply for admission. She was accepted into the program and started her career in the field of chiropractic May of 2010 graduated August 2013. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Scott decided to open her own business after working briefly for another chiropractor. Dr. Scott likes to walk to the beat of her own drum, that included working when and how she wanted to. Creating and accomplishing her own dream was far more desirable than helping someone else accomplish their dream. The journey was full of twists and turns but the gift of healing she will be able to unleash in each patient she cares for is well worth the hard work and efforts she made to be able to serve her community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business has definitely been a challenge and the road was not always smooth, nothing you do in life is a smooth road. However, there is a reward for determination and the ability to continue on after a setback. I did not have a business background, so Circle of Healing Chiropractic was started with a dream and unrelenting faith. Some of the struggles, in the beginning, were getting people in the door and staying encouraged along the way. The easy part was finding a location and furnishing the building. The hard part was building the patient base and not getting discouraged. I was offered a lot of unsolicited advice and was counted out many times by peers. However, 6 years later, Circle of Healing Chiropractic is still standing and vibrant. Persistence has been rewarding to say the least. There is always room for improvement and expansion is a goal for the near future.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Circle of Healing Chiropractic is a located in Desoto, Texas. The business was founded in 2013 and opened in 2014 by Dr. Denise Scott providing chiropractic care to the community. Dr. Scott was joined by her colleague and business partner, Dr. Hill in 2018. Initially, Dr. Scott was focused on pediatric, pre-natal, family chiropractic, and wellness. However, with the additional of Dr. Hill’s expertise in personal injury, the office expanded to provide more services in that niche of practice. Currently, we provide wellness care, reactive care, rehabilitation following injuries, prenatal and pediatric care to our patients.
We are a boutique chiropractic office where the doctors actively participate in the care provided every step of the way. The doctors are there while care is provided and to answer any concerns that may arise. The care we provide is specific to the needs of the individual patient and tailored for each patient as needed.
We are most proud that our office owned by two African American female doctors. Additionally, the care provided comes from the heart and renders great results to aid in the healing process.
We want your readers to know that in our office, you are treated like family.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like the diversity and small-time feel of our city. The community makes you feel welcomed and the local events allow you to connect with other members of the community. I often forget I live in a neighboring big city of Dallas. Coming from West Virginia, Dallas is a big change. However, living just south of Dallas in Desoto gives the familiar small-town vibe.
The thing I like least about Desoto is the lack restaurant options. I lived in North Dallas for several years and the restaurant options were a little better compared to the area I live currently. However, I do find so great little gems in the area.
