Today we’d like to introduce you to Doc Murphy
Doc, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey in business at around 20 years old, diving into nearly every home-based opportunity I could find—at least, that’s how it felt! I remember confidently telling my wife that I’d be retired by 21. That didn’t quite happen. At the time, I had no clear roadmap, but I knew one thing: I wanted the freedom that came from not working for someone else—freedom of time and, of course, financial freedom to serve a greater purpose.
While in ministry, planting churches, and spreading the gospel, I longed for the resources to support it. None of those early ventures succeeded, but I never gave up. Eventually, my wife and I were allowed to start a daycare business, complete with children already enrolled. We grew it to serve 52 children and employed four staff members, which helped us fund our church and lifestyle. Later, I found my footing in graphic design, book cover design, website creation, and eventually, publishing. From there, I launched a marketing company and expanded into music production.
Since then, my wife and I have successfully established multiple businesses—a tutoring service, a trash concierge service, a professional basketball team (the first in Plano, TX), an insurance agency, a digital marketing agency, a record label, and a business coaching platform. These ventures are more than just businesses; they’re vehicles that fund our ministry efforts, empower our community, and create job opportunities for others. While our primary focus remains on church planting, her singing career, and other ministry endeavors, the businesses we still own and operate support our calling, allowing us to impact lives both inside and outside the church.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s been full of adventure—and I thrive on that! I’m a pioneer at heart; starting new things is woven into my very nature. Even when ventures don’t work out, I’m never discouraged because I know I’ll simply rise and start again.
Over the years, there have been challenges. Limited funds and resources often made it tough to propel our businesses and churches forward. We faced struggles in retaining key employees and leaders, which taught us the importance of training people in excellence and managing resources wisely. In the beginning, we didn’t have mentors to guide us. But once we connected with the right ones, everything began to elevate. Their guidance made all the difference, helping us refine our approach and deepen our impact.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Doc Murphy Movements | The Everywhere Network?
Doc Murphy Movements | The Everywhere Network is a dynamic movement of churches and businesses with a central mission: to establish churches throughout the United States. Alongside this, we’re dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and building impactful businesses under our initiative, The Everywhere Agency.
Our focus is branding and marketing, guiding people to uncover their unique identity, stand out from the competition, and achieve excellence in their own niche. We offer personalized coaching sessions, books, and seminars designed to help individuals achieve what I call “YOU Success”—a vision of success that’s tailored, not generic, centered on realizing each individual’s, ministry’s, or company’s specific goals. We are passionate about helping people discover and pursue their unique version of success.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Seek out mentors who align with your vision—those who have walked the path you aspire to follow. Look for mentors with wisdom, not just book smarts. Wisdom means the ability to analyze a situation and offer not just general advice but solutions that can help you avoid months of mistakes, paving a clear and innovative path to success. Wise mentors offer insights that go beyond book smarts.
Surround yourself with like-minded individuals. If you’re moving in a specific direction, don’t spend most of your time with those headed the other way. Your network should reflect your goals and support your journey. Take charge of your life by connecting with mentors and peers who share your ambitions and can help you reach your destination. Anything less only detracts from your progress.
