Today we’d like to introduce you to Doir Burnley.
Hi Doir , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved makeup. I wasn’t allowed to wear it until high school, but that didn’t stop me from being obsessed with it. My mom was the one who taught me how to fill in my brows. I was terrible at first (and yes, I got made fun of!), but I kept practicing. Eventually, I got better, and honestly, that’s where my love for beauty really began.
In high school, whenever my friends and I went out to parties, I was always the one doing everyone’s makeup. It was something I just loved doing. Still, when it came time to think about the future, I was encouraged to go to college. Even though my mom was a hairstylist, cosmetology school never really felt like an option. The message was clear: go to college, get a good job, and build a stable career.
So, that’s exactly what I did. I went to college, earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and started working in corporate America. On paper, I was doing everything “right.” But deep down, I knew I wasn’t fulfilled. When I got laid off, I had this huge moment of uncertainty, but also relief. I didn’t know what I wanted to do next, but I knew one thing for sure: I didn’t want to go back to corporate life.
Not long after, I was visiting home when my cousin asked if I wanted to help manage her Weight Loss and Med Spa. I thought, “Why not? I have nothing to lose.” But I gave her one condition; I wanted to get my esthetician license.
So, I packed up, moved to Dallas, and jumped right into esthetician school. And honestly, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Now, I’m a fully licensed esthetician, building a career I truly love. I started over from scratch, but I finally feel like I’m doing what I was meant to do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. I moved to Dallas, not knowing anyone outside of the few family members I have. So marketing myself and gaining clientele is a struggle.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
B.E. The Skin was created with one simple mission: to empower individuals to feel confident, radiant, and pampered in their own skin. My goal is to provide personalized, high-quality skincare services in a warm and welcoming environment that prioritizes self-care, education, and beauty.
At B.E. The Skin, I specialize in corrective skincare and brow lamination and tint, helping clients achieve healthy, glowing skin and beautifully framed brows that enhance their natural features. I’m deeply passionate about skin health because our skin is our largest organ, and too often we neglect or compromise it without realizing. My approach focuses on understanding each client’s unique skin concerns and creating custom treatments that restore balance, confidence, and radiance.
What truly sets B.E. The Skin apart is the holistic experience I’m able to offer through my partnership with my cousin’s Weight Loss and Med Spa. This partnership allows clients to access a full spectrum of services—from skincare to weight control programs and cosmetic treatments, all in one place. It’s about total confidence, inside and out.
I’m incredibly proud of taking a leap of faith to start my own brand. Leaving corporate America to follow my passion wasn’t easy, but it was the best decision I’ve ever made. B.E. The Skin represents courage, care, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel good in their skin.
In addition to facials, consultations, and brow services, I also created a body care line called B.E. Essential. This collection includes nourishing body oils, rich body butters, hydrating hand creams, and a turmeric brightening soap, all designed to extend the feeling of self-care beyond the treatment room and into your everyday routine.
At B.E. The Skin, it’s not just about treatments—it’s about transformation. I hope that every client leaves not only looking refreshed but feeling renewed, confident, and cared for.
How do you think about luck?
In my journey with B.E The Skin, I don’t usually think of things as luck — good or bad. I rely on God to guide me, and I’ve learned to trust that every opportunity, challenge, or setback is part of a bigger plan for me and my business.
Everyone encounters setbacks: a health issue, an economic downturn, a failed product launch, a misunderstood decision, but using it as feedback rather than fatalism. I decided to keep going and give myself a real chance.
