Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Stephanie Omotayo.
Hi Dr. stephanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my nursing career from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012. Over the years, I have gained meaningful experience across diverse settings—including medical-surgical, pediatrics, corrections, and addiction treatment and more—which gave me a well-rounded, holistic foundation and allowed me to see firsthand the gaps patients often face in accessing timely, comprehensive care.
After advancing my education and practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I developed a strong interest in behavioral health, particularly after witnessing the challenges many patients faced in finding accessible mental health providers. I am double board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, allowing me to care for patients across the lifespan, from children to geriatrics.
My passion for bridging gaps in mental health care ultimately led to the creation of Imperial Health in 2023, in Waxahachie, Texas. Recognizing the community’s need for timely, accessible behavioral health services, we built a clinic rooted in empathy, integrity, and collaboration. What began as a vision has grown into a thriving practice that provides not only psychiatric care but also holistic wellness support, often with same-day or within-the-week access.
Today, I’m privileged to shape a practice that reflects both my professional journey and my commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all. Nursing has always required strong dedication, resilience, and passion. From the very beginning, the journey was challenging. Nursing school was tough—I still remember the long days of 12-hour clinicals starting at 5:30 a.m., followed by nights of studying, the anxiety before exams, and even moments of tears after difficult tests. But those struggles built strength, perseverance, and a deeper commitment to the profession.
Once I graduated with my bachelor’s degree, things began to make more sense because I was able to put all of that hard work into practice. Advancing my education became less intimidating, and the challenges became stepping stones.
Even as a business owner, starting a practice was not something that happened overnight. It required years of experience, preparation, learning, and building a strong foundation. There were hurdles and obstacles, but with faith, the support of my family and friends, and the belief that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, I kept moving forward.
This journey has taught me that success is never smooth—it comes through challenges, persistence, and purpose. And for me, this journey is still ongoing, guided by God and fueled by passion for the work I do.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Imperial Psychiatric and Wellness Clinic is a place where patients can feel comfortable, supported, and heard. We strive to provide care in a confidential, welcoming environment where individuals are encouraged to express their needs and goals. Our mission is simple: to listen, to guide, and to provide personalized, high-quality care.
We specialize in a wide range of behavioral health services, including ADHD evaluations, comprehensive psychiatric assessments, medication management, and treatment for mood disorders, anxiety, sleep disorders, and more. In addition, we offer holistic and wellness services such as weight management, life and career coaching, talk therapy, mindfulness therapy, and lifestyle support. This integrative approach allows us to address both behavioral health and overall wellness—helping patients thrive in every aspect of their lives.
As a double board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring a unique perspective that allows me to bridge the gap between primary care and mental health care. For example, if a patient is waiting to see their primary care provider but needs a blood pressure refill, I can step in to ensure continuity of care. Patients often appreciate this “two-in-one” approach, which offers both medical and behavioral health expertise under one roof.
What sets Imperial Psychiatric and Wellness apart is our commitment to integrity, compassion, and listening. I take pride in truly hearing my patients, understanding their goals, and collaborating with them to develop a personalized care plan. Our practice is known for going above and beyond, whether through same-day or within-the-week appointments, after-hours telehealth for busy schedules, or simply creating a safe space where patients feel valued.
What I am most proud of is seeing patients improve and regain their functional level. When they return and share how treatment has helped them—whether it’s medication, therapy, or holistic support—that is the true reward. At Imperial Health, our goal is not just symptom management, but restoring wellness, balance, and quality of life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe luck has played a role in my journey, both in positive and challenging ways. There have certainly been moments of what felt like “bad luck”—obstacles, setbacks, or doors that didn’t open when I expected them to. But I’ve come to see those moments as redirection rather than defeat. Each challenge pushed me to grow stronger, adapt, and find a new path forward.
On the other hand, I’ve also experienced what I would call “good luck”—being in the right place at the right time, meeting the right mentors, or having opportunities open when I needed them most. But even then, I believe it was preparation, persistence, and faith that allowed me to recognize and act on those opportunities.
In both life and business, I don’t rely on luck alone. My journey has been built on hard work, dedication, and God’s purpose. I see luck as the small moments that remind me I’m on the right path—but it’s the years of commitment and resilience that sustain me and my practice.
