Exploring Life & Business with Eleysia Costa of Nalu Skin and Body

Hi Eleysia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was in high school I knew there was nothing at a regular college that I wanted to study, no degree seemed right for me. All that interested me was all things beauty and I would spend hours doing research, watching YouTube, doing DIYs on my skin, eyebrows, etc. At the time I didn’t know they even had schools just for skin and body hair. I only knew of the full cosmetology license that focused on hairstyling. and that wasn’t in my interest either, It wasn’t until my mom mentioned the Esthetics program that I had a lightbulb go off. So while everyone researched colleges I researched esthetician schools. Of course, I got weird looks or comments whenever the topic of career paths was brought up at that age, but I. just knew it was perfect for me.

After I finished high school, I went straight to start my esthetics program in the fall. I went to school full time while keeping a job, and graduated the course in the spring, then used my money to purchase a few pieces of equipment (Steamer, Massage table, and towel warmer). Then June 1st, 2019, I took my very first client using the products from my school kit in a small 7×8 ft suite and grew from there. Now I’m a little more than 2 years in and just signed my first lease to open my own spa! It’s been a crazy ride, but I’m so excited for what is next to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It had its ups and downs for sure. I have had some struggles with keeping up with my own growth! This year Nalu Skin and Body really took off which has led me to hire employees and be blessed enough to be opening my own location this winter! Of course dealing with the usual things as well, like people wanting to bring me down, but the overwhelming support from my family, my boyfriend (Salvador), and of course my amazing clients definitely outweighs the hate. I’m so thankful to be able to have such an amazing support system and I truly love my clients or anyone who supports my brand!

We’ve been impressed with Nalu Skin and Body, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nalu Skin and Body is an esthetics spa specializing in skin care (mostly acne/scarring) and body contouring. treatments that help aid in weight loss, skin tightening, and improving the shape of the body. I think what sets Nalu apart is our drastic before and afters. Our facial treatments and Nalu skin care line (products for at home use) has really help transform many of our clients’ skin. The same goes for our body contouring services. We give great results and especially for our post partum mommy clients! Our most popular body contour service, The mommy makeover, help get rid of the loose skin after childbirth and helps you snap back to your pre-baby belly! Brand wise I’m most proud of launching our own product line that has really boosted our results as well as just being able to give our clients complete transformations on things they have been wanting to fix! Nothing is more rewarding than helping our clients look and feel their best and boosting their confidence! I’d also love to mention soon we will be opening a new location as I mentioned, which we will be also adding new services, such as waxing, laser hair removal, and more!

What does success mean to you?
Success to me is making myself and my loved ones proud. It’s also being able to offer something to help people, and really make a difference in people’s everyday life. If I can make just one client feel amazing because of our treatments, then I feel more than successful.
