Exploring Life & Business with Elisha Drake of Rising Hope, PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisha Drake.

Hi Elisha , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I decided after 8 years of teaching to become a licensed counselor. Lots of events in my life led to this decision. I grew up with childhood trauma, basically counseled kids and parents when teaching, and also led women’s freedom ministry at my church. Altogether, these led me to wanting to walk with teens, parents, women, and marriages into freedom and out of trauma or whatever else holds them back. I worked as a school counselor the last 3 years and decided to step out and start my own counseling practice.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, actually yes. The hardest part was me saying yes and going for starting my own business. I am not a risk taker, so it basically took my friends and family pushing me to do it. Now it’s growing quickly, I love it and would not look back. The hardest part is marketing yourself and creating a website (I learned and did it myself instead of paying someone $5K which is what was quoted to me).

We’ve been impressed with Rising Hope, PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Rising Hope Counseling is more than a therapy office—it’s a place where people rediscover their strength, reconnect with their values, and learn to breathe again. We walk with clients through the hard places with steadiness, skill, and genuine care. We are set apart because of authenticity and giving others space to be themselves, reflect, and grow.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I have lots of advice for those starting their own therapy practice. It is important that you have the drive to be self-employed. It is not for the weary, it takes a highly motivated person with drive to market yourself and be willing to see it through in the highs and lows.
