Exploring Life & Business with Elizabeth Burns of Wild Violet Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Burns.

Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a love for vintage tableware- this is something I inherited from the generations before me. My grandmother Vera shared this love of fun pieces for the table, and when she passed she left behind a collection that spanned decades. She loved hosting so much that she invited couples to marry at her home as well as bands to play live music out in her “party barn” as she called it. My family and I felt that sharing her collection of tableware with others would be a way to honor her social butterfly spirit. That collection has since grown to span the entire rainbow in tableware and many miles of travel to join celebrations all over the state. It feels like a special way to honor her!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When we first started out, we envisioned providing tableware for intimate gatherings in the homes of others. The scale of these gatherings grew really quickly- we never imagined we’d be doing weddings for 100-200 or more guests, but the desire was there and we were happy to accommodate. We had to find our groove for the process of scaling up in size, but it’s been a fun journey. We still love doing events of all sizes, big and small!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Wild Violet Rentals is a tabletop rental business specializing in unique pieces that bring some magic to the table. Our collection includes a mix of vintage and modern dishes, goblets, flatware, and table decor. We’re known for our colorful and eclectic offerings. Our goal is to offer pieces that allow for creative play while planning out tables- we want customers to feel like they can create a table that their personality shines through. We are really proud of our range of colorful glassware & china, a lot of love has gone into building these collections so that we can support your vision of a dream table.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
We find wisdom and inspiration in so many other wedding & event vendors that we cross paths with. Everyone has something special to contribute and we love seeing what a group of creatives can come up with when working on a project together. This is something that I love about the event industry- it’s always collaborative so there’s lots of opportunities to connect with other vendors and share ideas and knowledge. The industry feels like a big group of friends, and there are lots of DFW networking events to nurture those connections.
