Exploring Life & Business with Elizabeth Hark of Splendid Gardens LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Hark.

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After a really fun 13 year career in Logistics with Maersk and KLine, that including amazing experiences and worldwide travel, I had the opportunity to pursue my passion of landscaping with a Sales Manager position at Lawns of Dallas. I loved the travel and the people but it is nice to be local at home. I learned so much in this first landscaping role. That grew to two other great positions and 9 years of experience at national landscape companies and finally I launched Splendid Gardens in 2009.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting your own service business is a definite 5 to 7 year challenge and once over that hump, things run smoother. Cash flow is always the biggest challenge. Marketing, developing your employees and charting best practices take time. We were super fortunate to have great support from vendors and mentors.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Splendid Gardens LLC?
Splendid Gardens is full service Landscape Design, Installation and Estate Maintenance firm. We are woman owned company with a very high level of attention to detail. Every site is left in beautiful condition and super clean at each visit.

We provide 3D Designs to our customers that allow an exact color visual of the end result. This is so helpful for customers and our installation teams.

We provide Estate maintenance with a highly tenured staff that leaves customers party and holiday ready, each week.

Our staff supports customers with friendly, fast, knowledgeable service on-site and from the office. Customers have known their foreman for up to 17 years and they are comforted to know they are on-site.

We are most proud of the beautiful landscapes and seasonal flowers that we install on a weekly basis.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Neil Sperry is our most trusted source for expert knowledge. We seek to learn every day and we are voracious readers of Design, trends, and how to improve.
