Today we’d like to introduce you to Everest Goldstein
Hi Everest, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for working with and helping others.
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and then obtained my B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University. Following Princeton, I worked for Teach for America as a bilingual elementary school teacher, administrator, and curriculum developer. During this time, I received my Master of Education from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Realizing the great need for mental health services in this community, I decided to follow my passion and earned my psychiatric nurse practitioner degree at Vanderbilt University.
At the same time as I was studying to become a NP, I was struggling with my own health battling Lyme disease. I saw doctor after doctor and continued to get worse without any answers. Finally I was directed to a functional medicine provider and, for the first time in years, started to heal and regain my life. It was through this approach that I realized the impact that functional medicine (a true root cause, individualized approach) can have on patient outcomes. I decided to concurrently get certified in functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Following graduation, I moved to LA and worked in integrative mental health before deciding to move back to Dallas to start my own functional medicine and functional psychiatry practice. I am fortunate to have grown this practice and am now starting a larger integrative practice to be able to continue to serve more people in the community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business without any formal business experience has been an exciting and challenging journey, pushing me to grow in ways I never expected. Every day presents new lessons as I navigate the ins and outs of running a business—from managing finances and operations to building a strong team and creating a meaningful impact. There have been moments of uncertainty and trial and error, but each challenge has been an opportunity to learn, adapt, and become more confident as a business owner. Despite the hurdles, the process has been incredibly rewarding, as I get to shape something I’m passionate about and see it come to life. Every challenge has proved worth it in the end as I get to work with amazing patients and help them heal.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Everest Functional Psychiatry and Wellness is a functional medicine and functional psychiatric practice dedicated to helping individuals achieve optimal mental and physical well-being through a holistic, root-cause approach. Functional medicine utilizes both conventional and alternative approaches to treat each patient individually so they can heal, prevent further disease, and thrive. We go beyond traditional psychiatry by integrating functional medicine principles, addressing the mind-body connection, and utilizing a variety of modalities, including comprehensive lab testing, medications, supplements, diet/lifestyle interventions, etc. Our focus is on uncovering underlying imbalances, whether they stem from nutrition, lifestyle, hormones, or other factors, and creating comprehensive treatment plans that promote long-term healing. At Everest Functional Psychiatry and Wellness, we believe in empowering our patients with the tools and knowledge to take charge of their health, so they can flourish in all aspects of life.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Helping people heal mentally and physically brings me immense joy, knowing that I can play a role in their journey toward wellness and a more fulfilling life. There’s something deeply rewarding about seeing someone regain their vitality and confidence, and it fuels my passion every day. Beyond my work, I find happiness in the simple joyful moments—exploring the outdoors, staying active, and spending time with friends, family, and my sweet Corgi Mushroom.
