Exploring Life & Business with Gabriel Amaya of Frida’s Tacolandia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Amaya.

Hi Gabriel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My partner had a dream of starting a small restaurant in honor of his late mother who used to own one back in Mexico when he was little. We put our savings and 401K together and that’s how everything started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definingly has not been a smooth road for us. First struggling to get enough clients to walk in through the doors to create business, then 2020 Covid-19 came to end a lot of small businesses and we were almost part of that list.

We’ve been impressed with Frida’s Tacolandia, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This is an authentic Mexican restaurant with homemade recipes created by one of the owners (Jose Gonzalez) and decorated with portraits paying tribute to the greatest Frida Kahlo.

What were you like growing up?
I’m very outgoing, friendly, and with a back grown in business since most 0f my family have always own a business.
