Exploring Life & Business with Haleigh Weaver of Off the Wall Fashions Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haleigh Weaver.

Hi Haleigh, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The idea of starting a clothing boutique first occurred to me around the time of Covid in 2020. As a child, I was always fascinated with fashion. The question of where I got my clothes was always asked of me. This led me to my path of influencing, which I started in high school but didn’t take seriously until the end of my sophomore year. So, I figured starting a boutique would be awesome. During that time, I was a sophomore studying advertising at the University of Oklahoma. My initial plan was to attend college and enter the field of sales or real estate. Because I am an excellent talker and a people person, I knew I would work well in either. Nonetheless, when COVID struck, I questioned whether I could really envision myself doing this. I spent most of my time walking, exercising, and reflecting during covid. After praying and asking God for guidance, I set out on the path I was to follow. It was at that moment that the idea of starting a clothing boutique entered my head. Following that, I discussed the idea with my parents. While they thought it was wonderful, they said you had to figure out how to start your own business on your own. Shortly after our conversation, I went online and began researching how to start the boutique. After figuring everything out, we headed to the Dallas market to buy clothes a month later. Because this was something we hadn’t done before, we went into it very blindfolded. Ultimately, everything worked out, and I have countless memories of my mom by my side. After that first market, I realized I’d found my purpose and was where I needed to be. We are now going on two and a half years. In addition to the online store, we now have two store locations inside the painted tree boutiques in Sugarland and Kingwood, TX. Due to my graduation from college, I am now able to dedicate my entire time to work on the boutique. We do pop-up shops and events regularly around Dallas, Texas, and the surrounding areas. Following college graduation, I decided to rebrand my store. Before, I had a completely different logo with pinks, golds, and whites. This rebranding was intended to showcase my boutique in a mature and chic light in addition to showing that this is a new beginning and my full focus is on the store. I have learned so much from being in this type of industry dealing with so many other boutiques, as well as all the ups and downs that go along with it. Off-the-wall fashions is something I will forever be grateful for. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for my boutique!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge and obstacle I have faced with owning and operating a boutique is juggling my influencing and running a business. As an influencer, I am having to juggle time between meeting deadlines with brands I have contracts with, maintaining my Amazon storefronts and my LTK accounts, along with trying to run and grow my boutique at the same time. Social media is another challenge I’ve encountered. Managing a social media page for a boutique is different than managing one for a personal account. Before starting this, I thought it would be so easy, but it definitely hasn’t been. Day by day, I’m figuring it out! Other challenges include inventory in Houston, where we are based, and inventory here in Dallas. Because of the in-person stores there, and the online content to create, it is always a challenge. We are constantly having things shipped between there and here. We are slowly but surely figuring out a system! It has been quite a challenge due to the fact my mom and I are the only ones operating the store. Due to the fact that we both do multiple jobs, such as buyer, customer service, packer, shipper, social media manager, etc. Having this store hasn’t been easy, but I know it’s worth it in the end, and I am enjoying every minute of it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.

Previously, she owned her own boutique in Ohio. Because of that, I thought it would be a good name to have. I love being able to carry on her legacy.
