Hi Heavy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To make a long story short, I was at Exxon mobil for 11years, and we knew we were getting let go. During the pandemic I bought my own margarita machine, and started making up drinks from scratch. After a few weeks I made a IG and started posting the drinks and unbeknownst to me,it was a hit! Fast forward to now, I’m a Daiquiri shop owner of HEAVY DAIQUIRIS 2GO, here in watauga TX, and will be going on 3 yrs , come May 2026.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road was not smooth at all. I received a severance from my old job, but you quickly learn, what you think is money, is not really “money”. My family helped me with my finances, and I took a leap of faith and opened up my own shop. If I could tell anyone trying to get into entrepreneurship, I would tell have your funds ready. The bank will not give you a loan. Grants are almost impossible to get, you have to save up, or ask family. Most of the things I heard about getting funds, are definitely a myth. It has to come from you, at least the first 2 years of business.
We’ve been impressed with Heavy daiquiris, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Heavy Daiquiris from my own home. We are now in a store front,going on 3years, located at 6600 Denton Highway in watauga TX. I am currently the only employee. I do everything mostly myself from working of course, and making the drinks, advertisement/ marketing. I’m mostly known for my custom Daiquiris and offering alot of flavors. Im also the only Dallas cowboy themed daiquiri shot. I love going back and fourth with customers, who are fans of different teams. There’s not to much difference about Daiquiris in general, your personality has to separate you from others. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt, my customers come because of course the Daiquiris are good, but they enjoy me. Ive just always been a cool, calm collective kind of guy, and enjoy interaction with my customers. For the readers, I just want you all to come check me out if you are ever on this side. What matters most to me is my customer service. I’m big on my 5 star reviews. People don’t understand what good customer service does. People will literally come and drive far just for the person treating them the best. I treat everyone with respect, and in return they do the same. It’s simple.
