Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalen Brooks.
Hi Jalen, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I rented a sports car in Houston and noticed that this market was pretty saturated in that city due to the profitability. After returning to Dallas-Fort Worth, I noticed that it was much less saturated out here, especially in Arlington. Houston is a city known for luxury and nightlife. However, Dallas is a beautiful city that I believe is underrated for its luxury value. I believed that with the economic development of Dallas & Arlington, and other surrounding cities, an industry like luxury car rentals would become more and more relevant to the image of the city. I did my research on everything from the process of renting out cars all the way to car brands themselves, expanding my knowledge on the auto industry itself. Then, I developed a plan, purchased a few luxury vehicles, and launched Elite Auto Rentals as a partner of the best mobile auto detailing service in the metroplex, Elite Auto Detailing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I definitely wouldn’t characterize it as a smooth road. As a matter fact, the very first car I got for the fleet was actually involved in a collision on my very first rental. However, this accident didn’t deter me as much as you would think. Whenever I first started, I anticipated growing pains, and it might sound weird, but I actually was anxious for my first major obstacle from the very beginning because after doing my homework, it was obvious that obstacles in this industry were inevitable. I wanted to go through a major obstacle to be able to prove to myself that this is something I really wanted to do. I got through that setback a lot smoother than I expected to and received the challenge I was looking for.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We offer luxury car rentals that are available at rates everywhere from $50/day all the way to our higher-end vehicles that are currently about $200-300/day. We also offer shorter-term rental services such as music videos, events, photoshoots, etc. We pride ourselves in working with the needs of the customer and trying to assure that they get the best experience whenever doing business with us. We prioritize relationships as we view our clients individually as people rather than just customers. Our renting process is seamless and catered for customer satisfaction.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One thing that a lot of our clients find so surprising about the management of Elite Auto Rentals is the fact we are pretty young guys. In fact, myself and my co-owner are both only 23 years old. However, we view this as a strength rather than a weakness. We pretty much get the best of both worlds as far as being able to socially connect with all ages of people. We know there is a lot more road ahead of us than behind us, and we’re hoping to build an empire over these next few years.
