Exploring Life & Business with Jason Harris of Aviating Frequencies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Harris.

Hi Jason, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas in a small community called Dick Jeter. Dick Jeter opened my eyes at a young age to what life was about. My father/mother we’re ministers when I was born, firmly rooted in faith, I was raised not to be afraid of what the world had to throw my way. Dick Jeter wasn’t a bad community but had its faults with drugs and drug addicts. That immediately turned my passions for basketball and music into my full focus. Around my teenage years, music became my first love. I never loved anything more than the feeling I get from channeling my emotions into a beat that people felt. After high school, I had a few industry opportunities that fell through the cracks, mainly due to immaturity and lack of knowledge on how business operates outside of the education system. Around 2011 I took a risk and moved to Orlando, FL, where I became homeless. Tbh, that was some of the roughest but best times of my life. The impact that people had on my life turned me into a better person. I was homeless down the street from several d1 to Naia colleges. Also, I stayed in a shelter a few city blocks away from the Orlando Magic Arena, professional recording studios, and never thought to try out for a team or use my gifts to get my foot in the door. I was lost. God was calling me to use basketball and music as the foundation, but for years, I lost sight of basketball. Fast forward to today, I currently do highlight tapes for high schools, colleges, overseas, and working my way up the ranks. I still make music, but mainly for my own emotional benefit. Seems like the camera is taking me around the world, connecting with people of different nationalities. What made me pick up a camera was needing a new outlet. I tried music videos, but my heart wasn’t into it. I went to film youth basketball, and everything clicked! I’ve been meeting artist and athletes who’ve inspired me over the years. As of lately, it’s all making sense, Purpose! After Covid I moved to Dallas, Tx to work with CYM, Dr. Carlos Chapa, John Moore, and many more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No one’s road is smooth. No matter if you’re born into wealth or not! My financial issues to a rich person may be their insecurity of how they look or their ability to do something as effectively as someone else. Speaking for myself, my struggles have been lack of belief in my ability. I quit basketball because of lack of belief to compete at a higher level! I was facing tough childhood situations with my mother. She wouldn’t come to my basketball games anymore, that took a lot from my confidence in middle school. Not her fault! Mentally we all are fighting battles, but that turned my passion for music into my first love! Other struggles played a part, but this was the turning point in my life.

Lastly, I dealt with depression. Wanting to be accepted, wanting to be loved but not knowing how to love, not being receptive to knowledge! Many more! But these are parts of my setbacks in life.

We’ve been impressed with Aviating Frequencies Inc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Aviating Frequencies Inc, aka afincorp was started in 2013 but was a music label only. Aviation Music consisted of myself and 3 other friends. As everyone branched and moved on, I kept things going and changed it from Aviation Music to Aviating Frequencies Inc. AFi is now a multimedia production company based now in Shady Shores, Tx. We specialize in beat production and video production. We are mainly in the sports realm of video production, but resume includes doctors, real estate agencies, etc. We provide clients with sports highlights and recruiting advice. We’re small but are growing. We believe in making connections and providing a great product.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m not much of a social media guy! I only pay attention to people I personally know, but Instagram has been a game-changer for me. I’ve been able to connect with people and then meet them in person. Other than my production softwares, I’m old school, I still believe in shaking hands and helping companies grow! So far as books, I read a lot of spiritual information based on my ancestors and historical events.
