Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Dick.
Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Plant Lady TX actually started with my mom in 1978. She had this incredible love for plants and built a small business around sharing that with others. Years later, I stepped in—initially to help, and then fully to reimagine it. I brought in my experience from design, construction, and tech, and started layering in new offerings like living walls, 3D renderings, and a more intentional design process.
Now, I co-own the company with my best friend and business partner, Shelbi Johnson (pictured in photos below). Together, we’ve grown The Plant Lady into a full-service horticultural design studio that brings artistry, science, and soul to every project.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. Growing a business that balances art, science, and customer service is a constant learning process. Early on, we faced logistical challenges—supply issues, Texas weather, scaling while maintaining quality—but we figured it out through a lot of grit and a lot of late-night problem solving.
Working with someone you’re close to adds another layer. Shelbi and I have had to learn how to communicate in a way that honors both our friendship and our business. We challenge each other, support each other, and ultimately, we’re better for it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Plant Lady?
We specialize in horticultural design, plant installation, and ongoing maintenance. That includes custom interior plant styling, container gardens, vertical living walls, moss art, and full biophilic design consulting.
What sets us apart is our depth of care—from curated plant sourcing and 3D CAD renderings, to detailed maintenance schedules and wellness-focused plant choices. Everything we do is driven by intention and longevity.
We offer ongoing maintenance plans, so clients can trust their investment will stay beautiful and healthy. And soon, we’re rolling out Plant Pulse, an internal plant tracking and care system that blends tech and nature in a way no one else in our space is doing.
We’re known for doing more than just dropping off plants—we become caretakers of living environments. That level of care means something to people.
Design-wise, I’m proud of the custom work we do. Every project is a collaboration. Whether we’re installing a large-scale moss wall in a corporate space or styling a private home with rare statement plants, it’s all tailored, intentional, and built to thrive.
What matters most to you?
Presence. Connection. Care.
Plants slow us down in the best way—they make us notice light, space, energy. That’s what I want to cultivate in every project. I care about creating environments that help people feel something deeper—whether it’s calm, creativity, or just the reminder that life is happening in front of them.
It also matters to me that we build something that reflects our values: sustainability, integrity, and a commitment to doing things the right way, not the fast way.
