Exploring Life & Business with Jessica Gibson of Fit Life Personal Training

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Gibson.

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my career in a physical therapy clinic, working with patients after they completed rehab but wanted to continue building strength and confidence through fitness. That experience really shaped me. I’ve since worked in a wide range of settings—large gyms, the YMCA, 24 Hour Fitness, and private studios—and each one helped define how I train today.

As a former athlete, I originally thought I’d work mostly with athletes, but my time in physical therapy deepened my knowledge of injury prevention and post-rehab training. Now, with over 18 years of experience, I specialize in safe, approachable fitness for people with injuries, older adults, and those with movement limitations—especially anyone who feels intimidated by the gym.

I currently own Fit Life Personal Training, a small boutique gym in southwest Fort Worth, where I work with clients ranging from ages 15 to 96. Working with older adults throughout my career has really shown me how critical mobility is—not just for performance, but for quality of life. At the end of the day, what drives me most is helping people stay consistent and successful long term. I love being outdoors in any way and that love of nature also drives me to motivate people to get outside and enjoy it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Training is a challenging career to build because success really comes from long-term consistency. Being rooted in Fort Worth for the past 15 years has made a big difference for me—relationships take time, and trust is everything in this field.

One of the biggest challenges gyms face is taking on too much overhead too quickly. I’ve been very intentional about keeping my gym small and allowing it to grow slowly and sustainably. When COVID hit, we had to close temporarily, but adapting with outdoor training and online options allowed us to stay connected to clients and keep the business moving forward.

Because I primarily work with older adults, I’ve also built a strong referral relationship with a local geriatric physician who trusts me to support his patients’ fitness safely. That kind of partnership has been invaluable—it allows the business to grow organically without relying heavily on traditional marketing.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Fit Life Personal Training is a small, boutique gym based in southwest Fort Worth, built on the belief that fitness should feel safe, approachable, and sustainable for every stage of life. With over 18 years of experience, I’ve designed my business to support people who often feel overlooked by traditional gyms—those recovering from injury, older adults, and individuals with movement limitations.

My background working in a physical therapy clinic early in my career shaped how I train today. I specialize in post-rehab fitness, injury prevention, and mobility-focused strength training. While I began as an athlete, that clinical experience shifted my passion toward helping people move better, stay independent, and build confidence in their bodies—not just improve performance.

What truly sets Fit Life apart is our intentionally small size and personalized approach. We’ve grown slowly and steadily, prioritizing quality, relationships, and long-term results over volume. Our clients range in age from 15 to 96, and every program is customized to meet individual needs, abilities, and goals. I also partner closely with a local geriatric physician who trusts me to work safely with his patients, reinforcing the medical-informed foundation of our training.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built within our community. Fit Life isn’t about trends or quick fixes—it’s about consistency, longevity, and real life functionality. We focus on helping clients stay mobile, strong, and confident so they can fully participate in the activities and people they love, both now and in the years ahead.

What I want readers to know most is that Fit Life Personal Training is a place where people feel seen, supported, and capable—regardless of age, injury history, or fitness level. We’re here to help clients build strength for life, not just the gym. Our motto is “Live Happily Ever Active”

What are your plans for the future?
We currently have 3 Trainers and I would love to expand into a larger space, as I said we have slowly grown along with the real estate market and larger spaces that allow me to keep overhead down are hard to come by. We would eventually love to keep our same model into a larger space.
