Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Ward.
Hi Johnny, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Southern Comfort Land Services LLC started as a hobby I did in my own yard at first. I really enjoyed all aspects of maintaining the property and felt confident in abilities. I tossed around the idea of maybe starting a mowing business of my own for years. Over those years we grew our family and now have four little girls. My wife and I wanted to give them opportunities to do all of the sports or creative outlets they were dreaming of. We all know how expensive that can get with four kiddos! So, we brainstormed ideas as to how we could bring some additional income to our family. So, I took a chance and started replying to local neighborhood pages with people requesting mowing services. That took off so quickly it made our heads spin. We saw a great need for what we were doing in our local community and our customers were very pleased. I started researching and educating myself on all things landscaping and lawn care. In spring 2022 we decided we needed to make it official and Southern Comfort Land Services LLC was born. We have grown from me working solo into a crew of some amazing, hardworking guys. It’s been an incredible ride. We have been able to connect with so much of our local community and make some lifelong friends. Providence Village, Aubrey, and surrounding communities have been some of the most supportive, kind, and encouraging people we have ever met.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This business has been an incredible blessing to our family. While we have had great success in our first season as a company there have definitely been a few bumps in the road as we continue to learn the ins and outs of running small business. Between my wife and I juggling full-time jobs, our company, and our children it’s been challenging to find that good work and family balance. Luckily, we have great, loyal, employees and are surrounded by people willing to help and support us any time we need.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Southern Comfort Land Services LLC?
We are a local family-owned Landscaping and Lawn care business. We specialize in making our community yards beautiful again! We do anything from mowing, fertilizing, flower bed clean outs, tree, and bush trimming or removal, fresh Sod installation, and helping you create and bring your yard projects to life. We are known for going above and beyond what your typical lawn guy may do. We take great pride in what we do and treat every yard as if it were our own. We treat our customers with respect and work hard to gain their trust and friendship.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Many of our friends own small businesses. Most of them got started a couple years ahead of me. They have been an amazing resource to ask questions or voice frustrations and successes to. Our family and friends are our biggest cheerleaders and support system. Without them, we definitely wouldn’t be able to do what we do. But honestly, we have to give the most credit to our kiddos. They have been so patient and understanding while mom and dad have been working so hard.
