Exploring Life & Business with Jose Mejia of Mejia’s Renovations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Mejia.

Hi Jose, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and started Mejia’s Renovations with the goal of building something my family could be proud of. What began as taking on small projects has grown into a trusted business through hard work, quality craftsmanship, and treating every customer like family.

Today, we’re proud to serve homeowners throughout the Dallas area and surrounding communities. Every project is an opportunity to earn our customers’ trust, and we’re excited to continue growing while staying true to the values we started with.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. Being the first person in my family to own and build a legitimate business meant I had to learn as I went. There were challenges, sacrifices, and moments of uncertainty, especially in the early years. But with faith, determination, and support from my family, we kept moving forward.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mejia’s Renovations is a family-owned general contractor serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area, specializing in residential renovations, outdoor living spaces, landscaping, concrete, fencing, and home improvement projects. Our goal is to be a one-stop solution for homeowners looking to improve their property.

What sets us apart is the pride we take in every project and the relationships we build with our customers. We believe in honest communication, dependable service, and treating every home as if it were our own. Most of our growth has come through referrals and repeat customers, which means more to us than anything.

We’re not just building fences, patios, or remodeled spaces. Our greatest accomplishment isn’t any one project; it’s the relationships we’ve built with the families who continue to recommend us to their friends and neighbors. That’s the legacy we hope to keep growing.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m not someone who takes risks just for the sake of it, but I do believe some opportunities are worth betting on. Starting Mejia’s Renovations was a leap of faith. We didn’t know if the phone would keep ringing, if we’d stay busy, or if we’d be able to build a team we could rely on. It was scary, but we trusted God, worked hard every day, and refused to give up. Looking back after three years, taking that chance was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
