Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Montoya
Hi Kristen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a Chiropractor that focuses on unbinding tension patterns in the spine and surrounding musculature that limit the expression of the nervous system. Since the nervous system is the “brainal cord” of our body, it is really the master controller of our human system. The nervous system transmits signals of emotion, stress, responds to environmental stimulus and chemical toxins and transmits the signal for every thought, movement, and automatic function of our body. We want all of the body’s signals to be unimpeded and as fully expressive as possible. When the body is in a state of defense, it downsizes the expression of the nervous system and, really, it downsizes you and your ability to make progress in life. I use a specialized technique called NetworkSpinal, applying very precise and gentle contacts along the spine and surrounding musculature. Personally, I have received NetworkSpinal care for years and have found it so impactful to my state of being. Read up on the research- it is compelling cutting edge science!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
NetworkSpinal care is very different than any kind of bodywork or chiropractic care most people have ever experienced before, so the best way to learn more about it is really to experience it!
We’ve been impressed with Windhorse, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My practice is Windhorse, the name comes from the horse on the Tibetan prayer flags. A Windhorse is known as a connector of man to spirit and spirit to man. I think it is a beautiful description of the gift that I bring to people with what I do. When the defenses in the body are suspended, people are able to connect with their true nature. People experience spontaneous movement of their body on the table, they may take in huge breaths and have long emotion filled exhales. People laugh, they cry. People get up, go out into the world and make huge changes in their lives and the lives of others. I care for the spines of some of the most beautifully brilliant and caring people in our community. It is such a gift that they bring to everyone when they show up to receive care. Everyone they touch in their lives is impacted by the care that they receive. It’s how big transformation occurs for individuals and for the collective.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Things are significant, and you don’t always have to be so serious about it all. The human body is capable of an incredible amount of expression, we are a breathing rolodex of experience. Having the bandwidth to really be with and witness the wide range of the human experience is one of the best ways to have presence with one another. It is how we heal.
