Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Kaufman.
Kristin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When the idea to start my own business first came to me, I was a senior leader in Corporate… running a large global business in the technology space. As much as I loved how I had been contributing for over two decades, I realized somewhere along the way. – I had ‘lost the plot’. The daily experience was no longer fulfilling to me. I was (as I refer to this now) ‘out of alignment’.
I wanted to continue to do what I loved, what I am good at doing… and most importantly, I wanted to tie my contributions t to something much greater than myself. That is my definition of alignment. And…if any of these three pillars are not present in their full and optimal potential…neither is the individual.
There is no question that we are at our most powerful when we are aligned to our purpose. And when our gifts, strengths, talents, desires, and intentions support that purpose – that is the recipe for fulfillment.
I had that fulfillment for decades when leading large global teams in Corporate… then I didn’t. I wanted to take my personal experience and tap into the power of alignment for other individuals like me, as well as teams, groups, and organizations… and that is how my company Alignment, Inc. evolved. I love being an entrepreneur, being in service to others, and applying my corporate business experience to help others reach their potential.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
‘Smooth’ is a state of mind, as we all know. Has the road been ‘easy’? Not always, yet every bump and setback without question served my growth – personally and professionally.
There was the challenge of truly differentiating what I offer and my approach from the thousands of others that ‘do’ the ‘same thing’. When I first incorporated, there was the challenge of building my ‘brand’ and my clientele. Yet, what I have learned is that everyone is different, and what I bring to the table is uniquely mine – due to my unique experiences. So, when we stay true to who we are, we attract the ideal clients for what we offer…
And, thankfully, the lessons my parents taught me throughout my life proved to be true: serve your clients with purity of intention, be honest in all your interactions, and always exceed your client’s expectations. Those basic principals have served me well. As basic as they are, not all professionals embrace them.
We’ve been impressed with Alignment, Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My focus is to help individuals and businesses reveal their potential by aligning their values, talents, goals, and intentions to exceed their expectations.
It has been fascinating to watch the concept of “alignment” grab hold in other personal and business circles and what happens within individuals and companies as they tap into this power of alignment. This concept of Alignment is unquestionably what differentiates my practice.
My ALIGNMENT™ services require my clients to be open to change and willing to grow and expand. When an individual or company decides to use ALIGNMENT™ services, they can expect a seasoned professional with an experienced understanding of how to motivate to achieve these results, even when the most challenging economic and competitive times are present. I have benefited through decades of experience in the corporate world and bring to the table an implicit understanding of the challenges at hand and with the resources to help initiate change.
At ALIGNMENT, Inc., we do not pigeonhole my service offerings as we believe each company and each individual’s need is unique to the given situation. My preference is to customize to my client’s desired results.
That being said, there are basic pillars which cover all aspects of individual and group coaching and consulting needs. These pillars provide the foundation on which my custom approach will be built for you and your company.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I am a small-town girl, who was reared in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Our family was very close – I consider my parents the greatest blessings of my life. We were reared with strong values, a commitment to giving back, and a solid foundation anchored in faith, family, and love.
Growing up, my parents would probably say I was an ‘over-achiever’. From an early age, I served in leadership roles in many extracurricular activities from student council to cheerleading to non-profit charities. Leading and contributing has always fulfilled me, and this started when I was very young.
I also found tremendous joy writing and creating. At one point, I wanted to be a National Geographic photographer and writer. The mystic and adventure of a job like that appealed to me. Ironically, though I never became this, I am a global traveler having visited well over 40 countries, and I have written three best-selling books. So, this aspiration was fulfilled in a different way. It is amazing to see and experience how life unfolds.
