Today we’d like to introduce you to Lamond B Smith.
Hi Lamond, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for the fine and performing arts started when I was a child. I enjoyed watching plays, singing, acting, and being an “artsy” child.
I knew that dinner theatre was something I wanted to do. I developed a passion and wanted to do it since I was a teenager. I was heavily involved in all of the arts programs at my high school including theatre, band, choir, and art.
I went on to train for a career in fine arts by attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, University of Phoenix, and Berklee College of Music to complete the necessary training that I knew would aid me when I finally got to a point of opening my own dinner theatre.
For 12 years I proudly served public and private schools as a music and theatre teacher and have also worked at Walt Disney a world as a cast member in the stage productions “Festival of the Lion King” at Animal Kingdom, and “Dream Along with Mickey” at Magic Kingdom.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had my share of trials and tribulations along the way. One of my major struggles was growing up in a small town of 2,000 people that really didn’t understand the direction I wanted to go in my life and the lack of support for my fine arts dreams. Growing up, I possessed the talents and skills to be an artist, the resources to assist me with being successful weren’t available. I literally had to move from state to state seeking a foundation of support for my talents and really had to be around those who desire the same thing and a place where the opportunities were endless.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Brandon’s Dinner Playhouse is a unique facility that combines a three-course meal with professional theatre.
This concept was established in 2020 to present live theatrical productions and deliver a superlative dining experience for the cultural education, entertainment, and inspiration of the community.
You should know that you’re not going to find another dinner theatre like ours. Simply because we’re the only actual “dinner theatre” in the state of Texas that has combined a restaurant and blackbox theatre setting.
Our motto is Fun, Food. And Fabulous Live Entertainment. We pride ourselves on delivering that personally to each individual customer that visits and they’ll leave with a genuine appreciation for authentic southern soul food, live entertainment, and good; clean fun.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about our city is the endless opportunities for success and well-being. You have options for success! What I like least about it is the hidden hatred that some people possess that can and, in most cases, will “dim your shine”. Some people just don’t want to see you do well for yourself. They’ve already written you off and proving them wrong irritates their soul.
