Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexus Lemon.
Hi Lexus, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
So, if I start from the very beginning, then I would have to go all the way back to my childhood. When I was a child, I was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease, and I was in and out of Children’s Hospital all the time. Being in and out of the hospital, I wasn’t able to be a normal kid and do what normal kids do. I grew up to be very shy and introverted, not having many friends and being scared to do anything. Although I was this shy little girl, there was always this burning desire inside of me to be better, to go bigger, to strive for greatness. Throughout my teen years, I was still introverted and shy, but I wanted to achieve more. Fast forward to adulthood, I worked for Dallas Independent School District for 6 years, where I fell in love with teaching and helping people. After 6 years, again, I felt the desire to do and be more. So, I started working at a corporate company, where I started in Customer Service, then worked my way to training new hires for Customer Service, then worked my way up to managing the State of Michigan in Sales and did that for 3 year. Even still that burning desire stayed in me and was burning even brighter now. “This is not where I am supposed to be” is what kept running through my head while working corporate. Real Estate was always something I wanted to do back when I worked for DISD, but I kept telling myself, “That’s a man’s world.” “You’ll never succeed in that industry.” “You’re too shy to ever make it as a Real Estate Agent”… But that fire inside me wouldn’t let me leave it alone, so I saved up some money and went to Real Estate School to get my license! Once I got my license I “worked” it for a year in a half while still on my corporate job, but I wasn’t reaching any type of success with it. So, I did what I do best … I prayed. I prayed and asked God, if it was okay to quit my job and jump into Real Estate full-time. God gave me the green light, and I moved my license over to Rogers Healy and Associates, and I haven’t looked back since! This has been the best decision I have made so far, for myself!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has NOT been a smooth road. Is a smooth road even a thing lol? I always say, “Anything worth having isn’t easy, and anything easy isn’t worth having.” My life from birth hasn’t been easy, so my career not being easy, isn’t going to stop me from reaching my goals! Some of the struggles I have faced have been losing friends along the way. Questioning myself if I can do this. Questioning myself if it’s worth the heartache, tears, and frustration. Being in a season of loneliness. Having little to no support. And just the struggle of Real Estate itself; this is a hard industry to be in, it’s so much that goes into each transaction, and no two deals are the same. But with the support and the family atmosphere of my brokerage, Rogers Healy and Associates, it has made my journey a little easier and so much sweeter! So, no it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but for me personally, I lean so much on my family for support. But more importantly, I rely on my faith in God to guide me through this life. I don’t need a “smooth” road because I know that in my weakness, I am made strong! And I also know that this journey is not about me, but the lives God can touch through me.!
We’ve been impressed with Realtors at Rogers Healy and Associates, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Real Estate Agent here in the DFW area, I work with anyone who is interested in Buying, Selling, Leasing (apartments or residential), and Commercial Real Estate. I do my very best not to just take you through your transaction but to walk with you and teach you all you need to know to have a smooth and successful transaction. This is the biggest purchase most people will ever make, so you definitely want someone who is going to support and help you every step of the way. Having a background in teaching helps me be able to help you understand the steps and process in a way that is easy to grasp. So instead of teaching and helping kids, I now take pride in teaching and helping adults with real estate. Something I want people to know is that my purpose is bigger than Real Estate, this is just a vehicle to get me to my destination. I started a nonprofit called The L.E.D.Y. Foundation back in April 2021 that supports families and children with Sickle Cell Disease. This Real Estate vehicle will eventually fund my organization so I am able to help more children and families suffering with this disease.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
For me personally, I believe perseverance, a good work ethic, discipline, self-awareness, persistence, being personable, being bold, authenticity, honesty, and balance. Just to name a few.
