Exploring Life & Business with Lorna Reddicks of LILLIAN’S SIT N SIP COFFEE TRUCK

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorna Reddicks.

Hi Lorna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For four years I ran a successful coffee shop in the metro Atlanta area called Lillian’s Sit ‘N’ Sip Coffee Shop. Lillian was my mother and my best friend who loved coffee. Coffee brewing was the savory aroma I would wake up to every morning as a child. I had been planning to open a coffee shop and after she passed, believing it was the best way to honor her memory.

When the economic conditions of 2008 made it apparent that I had to close the shop, I returned to the corporate world as an administrative professional in a variety of positions. But it did not have the joy of serving customers with delicious coffee and delectable food as I sent them on their way for the day. I really missed that feeling.

Fast forward to 2020 when I moved from Atlanta, GA to Dallas, TX. I was going to open another coffee shop, but because food trucks were trending, I decided to change from a brick and mortar to a mobile food service. Same concept of selling gourmet coffee with great tasting, quality food products except on wheels, with outstanding customer service, in a positive and loving atmosphere. It went from concept to reality on April 27, 2025. Only this time there is more emphasis on the mission of Lillian’s Sit ‘N’ Sip Coffee Truck to be a benefit and blessing to the community at large.

It is the desire of our coffee truck to show love, hope, encouragement to customers that show up at our window. There they will find a prayer/praise box to drop in a card with either of those requests. We also plan to build our business to the extent that we can make a monthly donation of a percentage of the profits we receive every Tuesday, known as Giving Tuesday. Various charitable organizations focused on causes like homelessness, seniors, education, veterans, pet rescue, etc. will be the recipients of funding from Lillian’s Sit ‘N’ Sip to support their efforts to improve and empower others. This is the heart of who we are and what we are about, it is not just serving “good coffee”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In a word the greatest struggle we have had is dealing with the drastic changes in the economy. Our sales projections were greatly affected by the economy in general, especially tariffs. Coffee was heavily tariffed making it challenging to afford the inventory. With people holding onto what at one time was disposable income, it became harder to keep things going. Corporations also were not booking events as much either. Juxtapose that with not having a regular place to post the truck and that sums up our challenges, that we are still facing in 2026. But there is always a lingering hope for change.

Because a coffee truck is a niche, with being new to the business, it has been challenging getting our name out there. When we have booked a successful event, it does make a world of difference. Our earnest desire is to find a permanent place to post the truck for at minimum three to four days a week, at which point we can send email blast, build up our social media and start showing off why we have the 5-star reviews as that we have on Google, Facebook and Yelp. Until then, Lillian’s Sit ‘N’ Sip will continue to keep hope alive.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Try find a coffee truck and you will discover that there a very few that exists. Lillian’s Sit ‘N’ Sip Coffee Truck is also unique in that it serves a variety of hot and cold beverages, along with hearty food items for both breakfast and lunch. You can get a choice of breakfast sandwiches, delicious muffins, tantalizing turkey chili and chili dogs, with a choice of a large (6 inch) cookie to seal the deal. We can offer our full morning or afternoon menu, or we will to customize a menu so that you have the right selection for your event.

We are happy to serve at corporate events, apartment and office complexes, conferences, festivals and any other special occasion. Our customer service is known to be beyond good but outstanding; combined with our quality products our customers receive a wonderful experience when they visit our coffee truck.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Honestly, I do not believe in luck, only in the divine providence of Almighty God. In His sovereignty, my life’s circumstances are in His control and I trust in His plan for my life. Whether it is in good times or bad, and I had plenty of bad times in 2025, I prayerfully seek His guidance in ALL things. He has delivered me from and provided for me through the financial hardships, both with the coffee truck and personally.
