Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddison Adkins
Hi Maddison, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Helping others has always been my life’s mission. It’s been at the heart of every decision I’ve made throughout my career. Back in high school and college, I worked in childcare, and that’s where I discovered my true passion for supporting families. Whether it was organizing activities, meal prepping, coordinating logistics, or simply being there when needed, I found fulfillment in serving others.
My personal journey with mental and physical health struggles has been transformative, shaping who I am today. I’ve walked through moments of hopelessness, confusion, fear, and self-doubt, and because of that, I deeply understand what it’s like to feel less than. Looking back, I now see those challenges as a gift—one that has given me a powerful sense of empathy, which I’m able to offer to others in their own journeys of healing.
At a pivotal crossroads in my life, where I had to choose between continuing down a path in Public Relations and Advertising or pursuing something completely different, I chose to forge a new path to study Psychology. I was eager to connect the dots between my personal experiences and my desire to help others. Eventually, this led me to a job where I could directly impact people’s lives and work hands-on in the mental health field.
In December 2023, I was unexpectedly laid off. As I scrolled through job listings that didn’t align with my mission, I felt worn and uncertain. During this time, a mentor’s words gave me the confidence to take a leap of faith and follow my heart. That’s when LifeWise was born.
LifeWise is more than just a wellness coaching company—it’s the embodiment of my mission to provide support in a non-traditional, meaningful way. It fills the gap in mental health services by offering a holistic, personalized approach that truly meets people where they are. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do what I love every day, to work alongside a passionate team of life-givers, and to connect with clients who inspire me.
People need others who can truly relate to the dust and fragments of life’s challenges. And that’s exactly what LifeWise is all about—helping people gather those pieces and transform them into something new and beautiful. I’m honored to provide a space where those who give and those who need can align, and where healing and growth can truly take root.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path to where I am today has definitely not been smooth, but the best destinations often come with the most challenging routes. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was truly believing that I could do it. It wasn’t easy to overcome the doubts—especially when there were people around me who didn’t believe in my vision and made it clear they thought I couldn’t succeed.
I had to anchor myself firmly in the belief that this mission was worth pursuing, and I couldn’t allow others’ opinions to derail me. Staying focused on my purpose, my company, and my team became my foundation. Confidence is found in the horizon, ignited in the uncertainty, and grown in the process.
Another significant challenge was learning how to delegate effectively. Recognizing my limits, and understanding both my strengths and weaknesses, is a humbling experience. I knew that allowing pride to interfere with decision-making could be detrimental to my business. Owning a business has forced me to face my blind spots and address them head-on. Having a close-knit, supportive team who can point them out constructively has been one of the greatest blessings in my journey.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am the daughter of an entrepreneur who takes risks, and if you’d asked me a few years ago whether I would ever start my own business, I would have said “no, period!” I’ve seen firsthand the ups and downs of risk-taking. For a long time, I thought by choosing the ‘safe route’—working at companies with great benefits and good pay—I was avoiding risk. But the truth is, everything is a risk. A secure job can become insecure in an instant. Companies buy, sell, restructure, and sometimes even collapse—and I’ve experienced that firsthand when I lost a job I thought I had security in.
Once I shifted my perspective, I realized that starting a business was just as risky as working for someone else. The key difference is that I would have more control and more responsibility. Looking back now, I can honestly say that taking the leap into entrepreneurship has been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made.
As someone who once considered themselves a “non-risk-taker,” here’s my advice: Take the risk you actually want to take. The truth is, you’re already taking risks every day—so why not take the one that you find passion in? It’s true what they say: no risk, no reward.
