Hi Matt, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My path into DJing wasn’t some childhood dream or teenage hustle in a garage. I didn’t grow up spinning records. I grew up loving the energy of music and figuring out how to share it with people in a way that made them feel something.
Back in 2006, I started as a podcaster and live event host. I wasn’t just playing music, I was curating experiences. I was telling stories, making people laugh, and creating connections through entertainment. That’s where I really found my rhythm. I’ve always been wired for the stage, not the spotlight, necessarily, but the moment. I like to be the one who helps make the moment matter.
Over the years, I built and grew multiple businesses, which gave me a deep appreciation for what it takes to create something from nothing. I’ve got a real passion for entrepreneurship, and that mindset carried over when I started building my DJ brand. The truth is, DJing just made sense. I was already the guy leading events, reading the room, and keeping the energy flowing. Adding turntables was just a natural evolution.
Today, I get to blend all of that… the business side, the performer side, the storyteller side; into one job. I get to show up, bring the vibe, and help people celebrate their biggest moments. It’s personal for me, every time. And honestly? I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business is never a smooth ride. There are always bumps, pivots, and things you only learn by doing. But I’ve been fortunate. I didn’t walk into this completely blind. I had already built and grown several businesses over the years, so I understood the grind, the systems, and the mindset it takes to get something off the ground.
That said, entering the wedding industry was a whole new game. There’s a rhythm and flow to weddings that you can’t fully grasp until you’re immersed in it. The stakes are high, emotions are higher, and your margin for error is basically zero. I had to learn not just how to DJ at weddings, but how to navigate timelines, work with planners, adapt to curveballs, and understand what each couple really needed from me beyond the music.
Luckily, I had some incredible people in the industry who shared their experience, encouraged me, and pointed me in the right direction early on. That community support, combined with my entrepreneurial background, helped me fast-track through the growing pains… but I still had to put in the work. I’m grateful for those early challenges. They forced me to level up fast and deliver a truly elevated experience for every client.

DJ Matt Blake isn’t just a guy with turntables and a playlist. This is an entertainment experience built around connection, energy, and moments that people will never forget. I’m a professional DJ based in North Texas, serving weddings, corporate events, private parties, and high-end social functions across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. But more than that, I’m a vibe curator. A party architect. I bring intentionality to every celebration.

What are your plans for the future?
Absolutely. There’s a lot on the horizon and I’m fired up about what’s coming.
Right now, I’m building out Supernova Event Entertainment as its own brand to focus specifically on school and community events (think proms, homecomings, elementary school events, city festivals, and corporate gatherings). That side of the business is high-energy, youth-focused, and includes other entertainment options like face painters, balloon twisters, petting-zoos, etc. It’s growing fast, and it deserves its own spotlight. And I hope to be able to offer a turn-key product for schools and HOAs where they can book all their entertainment for an event with one call.
At the same time, I’m continuing to refine and elevate the DJ Matt Blake brand for upscale wedding clients. That brand is deeply personal to me—it’s where I get to connect with couples on one of the biggest days of their lives. I bring a tailored experience, not just music. We’re talking flow, vibe, and storytelling from the ceremony to the final song.
Going forward, these two brands will give me the clarity and flexibility to serve both types of events at the highest level, without compromise. I’ve always believed in the power of clear branding and purposeful positioning, and this shift reflects that.
2026 and 2027 bookings are already rolling in, and I plan to continue investing in gear, team development, and strategy to scale without losing the personal connection that got me here in the first place.
