Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Bond.
Hi Megan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’m a Fort Worth girl born and raised and have always had a fascination with business. From early childhood, I was fascinated by owning my own business. I tried my hand at opening a jewelry store from my parent’s dining room, sold hot chocolate in my neighborhood, and even did tennis lessons. Having something that I made and built up was extremely fulfilling and rewarding. I went on to attend school at TCU (GO Frogs!). I finished my degree and decided to go the safe route with a job in finance. It was the easy path for me. The money was good, and it was relatively safe. The big thing missing was the fulfillment and ownership that I loved as a child. I finally decided it was time to pursue something that was my own again and started MB Marketing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first lesson is not to wait for the perfect time to take the chance; it doesn’t exist. There are a million excuses not to pursue something you have a passion for; it just takes one leap of faith. Looking back on the early years is crazy for me. I can’t believe I was surviving on the amount of money I was bringing in! However, the lack of abundance did help me to hone my networking, relationship-building, and overall business skills to where I am today. I’d be lying if I said I never thought of going back to the safe route when things were tight, but I am so glad I stuck it out and built a company I can own and customers I can help. Long story short, even the smoothest roads have a few potholes; you just have to stay the course.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
I mostly work with smaller businesses I really enjoy watching them grow. I’ve had one client that I’ve worked with since 2020, and I’ve been able to watch him grow his business and almost double in size and need to buy a bigger space that was three times as large as the space that he worked in when we first started together I’ve worked with giant billion dollar company is and I don’t find it as enjoyable as working with the local businesses in the small business owners.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have always been a huge sports fan, both playing and watching. I love to be involved in everything Ft. Worth, and I have a wonderful husband and fur baby that I get to be with every day. Things are doing alright.
