Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Winkler.
Hi Megan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Believe it or not, I began my journey as a Virtual CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) working on my Master’s in Military History when I attended college at American Military University – one of the only grad programs held entirely online at the time! While that may not seem like the most obvious starting point for my work in marketing, it’s actually enhanced every aspect of my work and prepared me more than I could have ever imagined to help my clients today.
Immersing myself in this program, speaking up in a room full of men, learning to research without bias, and so much more…informed my entire outlook on how I see the business world. I used to hate the word “marketing,” too! That dislike came from working for companies that required I speak about their products or offerings in a way that felt inauthentic. It felt dishonest. So, I started to find different ways to do it – because marketing is, as they say, the lifeblood of a business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is any road to business ownership smooth? I’m envious. Seriously, though, there have certainly been some challenges along the way. The biggest of those challenges was the imposter syndrome that I think many women experience. Especially those who own businesses. These days, time management can be a challenge, but with any growing business, there will be growing pains as you make adjustments to serving more clients and expanding your team.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I help spiritual, heart-centered entrepreneurs market and sell their offerings. Among my services are monthly strategy sessions, done-with-you marketing management, and group programs. I also host The Good Business Witch Podcast, which focuses on helping business owners of all types and income levels build their most authentic and thriving business.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
What an interesting question! I think I’ve had a lot of good luck in my life overall, but it’s what we do with it that’s the most important. I’ve taken some big risks in my life and my business – risks that I know many people wouldn’t have taken. And it’s paid off! I don’t think that’s luck so much as coming across an opportunity that seems fortuitous and jumping at the chance.
