Exploring Life & Business with Nicole Cater of GraceFilled Community

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Cater

Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From the time I was a young girl I spent countless hours in the behind the scenes of church organization and ministry. As an adult I served as youth pastor, church administration, coordinator, and women’s pastor. During that time from 25 years operated as a business consultant running a highly successful virtual administrative and digital marketing firm. Speaking at many business conferences, carrying government contracts and more I was thriving or so I thought. All this time, keep in mind I was still pouring myself into ministry and after having walked through so many tough seasons of grief, marital turmoil, healing from church hurt and seeing so much needed in churches and for business owners I felt a strong desire to take all the knowledge, experiences, education and skills behind the corporate sense of business and into churches and faith based arenas. In 2021 I felt God telling me to stop the business. I wish I could say I was obedient but I wasn’t. I kept going into what became the hardest season in business I had experienced. I watched my business that I had birth slowly fade in bizarre ways. To the point of being forced to close down. So here I am at a loss of what was next after having spent 12 years driving operations.

Then after some prophetic confirmations and open doors; I finally surrendered to the very thing I was running from even in 2021 – starting GraceFilled Community a entity that BOLDLY shared God’s purpose and heart for the church and His people through church leadership development, digital outreach for churches and businesses as well as helping to individuals heal by focusing on the entirety of our creation. Equipping individuals for physical, mental, emotional and of course spiritual wholeness.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ha, nothing about this life is smooth but I will say it’s most rewarding. Being a business owner in and of itself comes with its own levels of stress; add choosing to be obedient and in the business of winning souls and discipling; there’s even greater attacks.
I think the greatest struggle is there’s this notion that in my line of work you should be perfect before you speak to others about the things of God but the reality is He wants obedience not perfection and while there ABSOLUTELY are some Biblical guidelines for those that choose to teach the gospel being perfect is not one of them. The amount of people that attempt to drive a narrative that your mistakes such as having a moment of bad decision in response or having an imperfect extended family member, or even the amount of money you do or don’t have as the “determining factor” of qualifying a vessel of God is the hardest space to encounter especially with our digital age of today.
I’m constantly reminded that I’m only a vessel. He actually chose me and allows me to partner with Him for the good of the community and His people.
It’s only with God that in all the trauma and past experiences of hurt and pain; that I could come out of the pits and impact the community as I do today. Through enduring and overcoming it has taught me how to love with agape love, carry healthy boundaries and see people with eyes of grace to help them heal and become better individuals, parents, leaders and community members.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
For over 12 years, I ran a successful digital marketing firm, helping businesses grow and thrive. But my heart has always been for ministry. With more than 15 years in church leadership, I’ve had the privilege of equipping churches and nonprofits to expand their reach and fulfill their mission.
That’s why I founded GraceFilled Community—to combine my experience in business and ministry to help churches, nonprofits, and small businesses grow with grace and strategy. Through leadership training, digital marketing, administrative support, and discipleship programs, we empower leaders, strengthen teams, and create lasting kingdom impact.
Whether you’re a pastor, nonprofit leader, or business owner, my goal is to walk alongside you, offering the tools and support you need to thrive.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is don’t be afraid to take the first step, even if you don’t have it all figured out. Too often, we wait for the perfect moment or for everything to be in place before we begin, but growth happens in the process.
I wish I had understood earlier that God doesn’t call the equipped—He equips the called. When I first started my business and later launched GraceFilled Community, I felt the weight of needing to know everything. But the truth is, learning and adapting are part of the journey. Surround yourself with mentors, coaches, and a strong support system who can guide you.
Also, remember to build a solid foundation—spiritually, personally, and professionally. Spend time seeking God for clarity, invest in developing your skills, and make connections with like-minded people. And most importantly, don’t quit when it gets hard. Challenges will come, but they are often the very thing that prepares you for what’s next. Keep trusting, keep growing, and keep moving forward!
