Exploring Life & Business with Parthi B. Patel of Intentional Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Parthi B. Patel.

Parthi B. Patel

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began my journey in the mental health field with a strong passion for helping people improve their well-being. After becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I founded Intentional Therapy, PLLC, a virtual mental health Private Practice based in Dallas, Texas in March of 2021. The practice’s focus is on self-care, self-love, realistic mindfulness, and addressing various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, intergenerational trauma, and BIPOC issues.

Our practice has grown, now including four other dedicated clinicians, and we are actively seeking to expand our team. Our mission goes beyond traditional therapy, aiming to promote a holistic approach to mental health. Intentional Therapy is deeply passionate about mental health because we believe that it forms the foundation for a fulfilling and balanced life. Our team understands that mental well-being is not just about the absence of mental illness but rather the presence of factors like self-care, self-love, mindfulness, and emotional resilience.

We are driven by the profound impact that mental health can have on an individual’s overall quality of life. We’ve seen how addressing issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, and intergenerational trauma can lead to transformative changes in people’s lives. Furthermore, our commitment to addressing BIPOC issues is rooted in the recognition of the unique challenges faced by these communities and the need for culturally competent care.

Our passion for mental health extends to our desire to break the stigma surrounding it. We aim to create a safe and supportive space for open conversations about mental health, fostering an environment where individuals can seek help without judgment. This commitment to improving mental health is at the core of Intentional Therapy’s mission and values.

This journey has been fulfilling, and it’s our goal to continue making a positive impact on the mental health and well-being of our clients while also expanding our reach and influence in this space.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building Intentional Therapy has been a rewarding journey, but it certainly hasn’t been without its challenges. The decision to start a private practice was financially risky, as it required a significant investment of time and resources. This risk was amplified by the responsibility of providing for a growing team of clinicians and staff.

One of the major struggles along the way was the need to learn from scratch about marketing, sales, and the intricacies of being a business owner. Despite having the advantage of a father who is a business owner, I realized that the field of mental health private practice brought its unique set of demands. Understanding the nuances of marketing our services effectively, acquiring clients, and ensuring the financial stability of the practice required a steep learning curve.

In this process, we encountered various obstacles and setbacks, but each challenge became an opportunity for growth and improvement. Overcoming these hurdles has strengthened our commitment to our mission, and we continue to adapt, learn, and evolve to provide the best possible mental health services to our clients and the community. It’s a journey of continuous learning and resilience.

We’ve been impressed with Intentional Therapy, PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What do you think about happiness?
What makes me truly happy are my connections with my family. Their support and love brings immense joy to my life. Family provides a sense of belonging and a source of strength that is invaluable. The support of my parents has been indispensable. Their encouragement and belief in my journey has been instrumental in getting me to where I stand today. I owe a significant portion of my success to their constant guidance and faith in my abilities.

Their support has not only provided me with the practical assistance and resources I needed but has also given me the emotional strength to overcome challenges. Their love and belief in my vision for Intentional Therapy have fueled my determination to make it a reality. I can confidently say that without them, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have with my private practice. Their support is a source of happiness and gratitude in my life.

There’s something deeply fulfilling in learning, evolving, and becoming a better version of oneself. It’s in these moments of progress that I find great satisfaction. Having a broader perspective on life, the world, and the human experience also brings happiness. It allows me to appreciate the beauty of diversity, the resilience of the human spirit, and the interconnectedness of all living things.

Lastly, faith in the universe. Believing that there’s a greater plan and purpose in life can provide comfort and happiness, knowing that things will fall into place as they should.
