Hi Priyanka, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Hello, this is Priyanka. By education, I hold a Bachelor of Science, a Master in Public Administration, and an MBA dropout. I am also a certified cosmetologist. I have around 8 to 10 years of experience in the manufacturing supply chain. My father has a business background and has ventured into various businesses for survival, giving me a broad spectrum of experiences.
Before starting my own business, I worked closely with owners, CEOs, and MDs, which inspired me to explore the entrepreneurial side. My aim was not to earn a 5- to 6-figure income to fill my wardrobe or buy jewelry but it is to
create a bigger impact. I wanted to show others how they can achieve their dreams, either after their education or alongside it.
Throughout my 20s, I dedicated 15 to 16 hours daily to work and side hustles, driven by persistence and supported by my family. I owe a lot to my family, who are the strong pillars behind my journey. Without their support, none of this would have been possible.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
If you call it a road, it cannot be smooth like a bed because it is a road and the other thing is, the road is always outside. It’s not inside your house, so the environment has to be different. It might be rainy, sunny, too sunny, dark, cold, or too hot. Since it’s a road, it is built with concrete and other materials, which are not soft like a sheet inside your house.
In business or a 9 to 5 job, if you want to grow, you have to put in 100 or 200%. You need to grow as the industry grows and learn as the industry evolves. If you don’t, you can still survive in 9 to 5, which is also not easy because it’s very competitive in jobs too.
In business, you won’t survive at all if you don’t want to learn, pay attention, and add new things. So, it cannot be smooth for anybody. Whether you’re selling something from home or running a big business, both have struggles and challenges. They need to constantly learn, improve their skills, solve problems, and communicate effectively.
The good thing is that it’s not impossible. I believe that God will never serve anything on your plate that you won’t be able to handle. You will build your capabilities and achieve what you want.
Some of the challenges I faced are quite common: increasing sales, learning how to do marketing and social media, managing household responsibilities with a full-time business, taking care of kids, managing time, and having the patience to deal with family and work relationships. All these require constant effort and flexibility, but they are manageable with perseverance and support.
