Exploring Life & Business with Rae Adams of Crowned Glo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rae Adams.

Hi Rae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After serving in the US Army, I was inspired after receiving my Business Degree to open a Business that can be of service to others and make people feel and look Beautiful. I was directly inspired by my daughters once they reached teenagers who had begin to wear makeup and wear lashes to choose the Beauty Industry as a way to be of service to others. I’m a Wife and Mother of 6 Beautiful Girls. In 2019 I enrolled in Beauty School while pregnant with our 6th daughter who is currently 1 years old.( 20 months olds). Started Crowned Glo, Mini Spa in September of 2020 (9/18/2020) after graduating from DuValls Cosmetology School Advanced Esthetics program in January 2020 and receiving my state license in March of 2020.

I’m originally from Rockford, Illinois so I was very nervous about opening my Business because I didn’t know many people in Texas but after networking at school, networking for myself, I was able to go from 2 clients to now 50 clients in my first year in Business. One of the best and highlighted things in my Business is the product line I carry, which was created and produced by Dallas Fort Worth very own, Rhonda Allison, Beauty Worldwide Icon. I got the honor to train on her skincare products while attending school and seen the results in my clients at school.

It was a no brainer that I not only wanted to use Rhonda Allison Skincare in my Back Bar but retail it and get these amazing products in the hands of as many people as possible. Rhonda Allison Skincare has help and corrected so many of my clients skin who has struggled with acne, aging, and other skin conditions. As a Business Major and Business woman I knew that a great product is how you’re able to not just make it successfully in the Beauty Industry but will help others to achieve healthy skin.

The services I currently offer are Skin treatment services (Facials), Body Treatments, Waxing, Eyebrows, Makeup Services, and Retail Rhonda Allison Skincare. I also have a small Boutique inside my Spa that has Beauty tools and Branded Merchandise. My long term goal with Crowned Glo is to own my own Salon suites w/ a Beauty School inside. I feel entrepreneurship is such a beautiful and should be taught to as many as possible. I want to provide resources to help a future esthetician to create their own beauty businesses while providing education as well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like all small businesses opening during a pandemic it was obstacles with building clientele and wondering how my business will do in a economy recovering from a pandemic where a lot of beauty services were closed down.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Crowned Glo?
Crowned Glo A Mini Spa located in Southlake TX, in Salons by JC. Services include: Facial Treatments, Body Treatments, Waxing, Makeup and more. Retailer of Rhonda Allison Skincare.

What sets me apart from others is my desire to go above and beyond for my clients and customers. I believe in great customer service and being of service to my clients. I am most proud of my choice in Skincare brand for my Spa. Rhonda Allison Skincare has really helped so many of my clients achieve the skin they desire to have. I love introducing clients and customers to new products and helping them to discover what works for their unique skin with the customized options Rhonda Allison has in her Skincare line.

What I would like readers to know is that the Beauty industry needs more Estheticians and more people to educate others about skin. Skin cancer is real and take lives yearly. I also want to encourage more African American women to invest in their skin. Buy more skincare and use sunscreen. Growing up, Spas or Facials was something not many of our mothers did. We are now starting to learn in our adult life the importance of keeping up with your skin to avoid aging, sun-damage- and more. I also would love to express the importance of everyone using more sunscreen especially living here in Texas. UVA rays can be damaging, sunscreen is our bulletproof shield to protect what we have invested in our skin.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When establishing a Beauty Mentor it’s good to be humble and teachable for your mentor. Mentors are here to help us to grow our businesses and grow our Skills. Social Media has been an amazing way for me to Network. learning to effectively use Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, can help you to meet new clientele, network with other Beauty Professionals, and promote services or products your selling.
