Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Latham
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey has been long and winding. I grew up watching some of my dearest loved ones suffer immensely from crippling anxiety and other mental health challenges. Doctors prescribed medications, which led to addictions, which led to young death. Not once were nutrition, genetics, or gut health explored as part of the equation — just Big Pharma and a ‘learn how to live with it’ attitude.
Partly inspired by this trauma, I’ve dedicated myself to learning how our physical and mental health are deeply interconnected. My path was also partly inspired by my own severe gut health challenges, for which my doctors could not find the root-cause but instead prescribed meds for me to take for the rest of my life to manage symptoms. I spent thousands of dollars going down the rabbit hole and when I was not able find answers from my health practitioners, I went back to school and became my own practitioner.
In my journey, I healed myself and helped many of my loved ones come out the other side of mystery symptoms, poor habits, mental health challenges, and negative cycles.
I’ve learned that there is a delicate dance between cold-hard data and the more abstract ‘being in tune with your body’. Likewise, there is a necessary balance between physical, mental, and spiritual wellness, and when one is out of tune, then the others follow suit. That’s why my practice is called Wellness In Tune. I help people harmonize their multidimensional wellness, and live in tune with themselves, so they can hear the messages their bodies are trying to convey through symptoms.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a beautiful path of knowledge and discovery, coupled with moments of frustration with our current healthcare system, and disappointment for all of those who have been let down by it (as I personally have been). The road as an entrepreneur is not always smooth, but when you’re passionate about what you do, and especially when that work involves helping others, you always find a way to make it work. Things fall into place when you lead with your heart and take care of yourself along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of Wellness In Tune. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a certified mind/body health practitioner, and I’m passionate about helping individuals beat chronic stress, anxiety, irritability, and burnout once and for all.
Together, we leverage targeted lab testing, and analyze factors like genetic variants, nutritional deficiencies, gut microbiome, energy, hormones, neurotransmitters, and lifestyle. With this holistic view, we can begin to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, and how it may be contributing to undesired mental health outcomes. We use this information to craft a personalized roadmap that guides clients towards making impactful shifts to transform their wellbeing.
My integrative approach to addressing the root cause of symptoms is based on proven medical and behavioral science. That said, my services are very different than the mainstream approach to physical and mental health. We lean into root-cause solutions, rather than bandaid-fixes; we connect the dots of holistic health, rather than separating them into different categories; and we facilitate deep-seated transformation, rather than surface level shifts.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My clients have had life-changing success, and I genuinely love what I do because I get to watch that transformation unfold. It’s a beautiful thing to see someone who has long believed that their anxiety is just ‘who they are’ actually shed that layer and reconnect with their true self. The lab results are always fascinating, and provide much deserved understanding of the challenges that have been at play.
I’ve included a few case studies on my website for anyone curious to see how the process comes to life: https://www.wellnessintune.com/case-studies
