Exploring Life & Business with Richard Valentino of 316 Home Inspections

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Valentino.

Hi Richard, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At this point in my career I had been laid off so I was looking for a job where I felt like my own hustle made a difference in my employment. So I went to an open house event with a friend to look more into becoming a home inspector. Home inspection is a trade and provides you with a little more control over employment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Texas is a great state to be a home inspector in especially since a lot of people are moving here from other states.
Starting off as a home inspector the struggles are mainly getting your name out there and building a good reputation. This all takes time and some money so you must plan accordingly.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about 316 Home Inspections ?
My business is a single person operation, performing mainly residential home inspections from the roof down to the grading of the land.

I specialize in quality home inspections, inspecting the home and how it performs.

I am known for producing quality reports and explaining things to my clients so that they understand the home they are inquiring about.

What sets me apart from others is that I do not try to perform a bunch of inspections in a day that would cut down on the quality that I produce. I understand some inspectors can inspect multiple homes a day and still produce quality reports but keeping my focus on one property per day works best for me.

Brand wise I want people to know that I deeply care about people and want them to have the most accurate information available to them so that they can make a great informed decision.

My brand/offerings/services focuses around the inspection process using different equipment to get the job done. I offer sewerscope inspections, infrared inspections (which come free with a full home inspection) I also use moisture meters when needed, and floor level gauges as required.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I listen to the ride along home inspection podcast, which has great information and keeps you up to date with some of the newer emerging technology.
