Exploring Life & Business with Sarah O. Vidal of Cultured Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah O. Vidal.

Hi Sarah O., please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up in Nigeria and moving to the US as a teenager sparked my fascination with culture and place. When I began traveling as an adult, I noticed ethical tourism businesses, like family-run restaurants and other community-focused ventures, struggling to attract guests. It wasn’t because they lacked heart, but because they didn’t always have the right tools or guidance to grow their brand.

With a degree in visual communications and over a decade of experience in brand strategy and design, I started Cultured Creative to help businesses communicate their difference and attract the right guests while keeping purpose and profit in mind.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a branding agency as a solo female founder has been far from a walk in the park. Starting out, I thought success was all about how hard I could hustle. But I quickly realized the African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” is true even in business.

The best opportunities, from clients to collaborations, have come through relationships I nurtured. Whether it’s connecting with local business owners in DFW or partnering with like-minded global businesses, creating the right community has been my bedrock for growth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cultured Creative?
Cultured Creative is a branding studio for responsible tourism businesses, both locally in DFW and around the world. We help restaurants, hotels, lodges, tour operators, travel agents, and more stand out by clarifying what makes them unique, telling stories that resonate with mindful travelers, and creating visual identities that feel consistent and compelling.

Our work ranges from logo and identity design to websites that boost visibility and drive results. A rebranding project for our client, Firehawk, led to a 300% jump in inbound leads and a 5% increase in revenue from local partners alone, also earning the Best Print Design Award from DesignRush in April 2025.

At Cultured Creative, we believe businesses do not have to choose between purpose and profit. They can succeed by ensuring both work together.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe what most call “luck” is often the visible result of relationships you’ve nurtured behind the scenes and uncomfortable opportunities you’ve said yes to. The more energy I pour into building community and saying yes, even when I’m terrified, the more doors seem to open.

When I started my part-time digital nomad lifestyle, I took my first solo trip to South Korea for six weeks. It was daunting to travel alone as a woman, but I pushed past the fear. The result? I learned the language, dug into the mudflats barefoot to gather clams, volunteered on a mulberry farm, and witnessed how small communities were embracing regenerative tourism.

So, luck for me is about creating the space to be in the right rooms with the right people.
