Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah.
Hi Savannah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into this work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist really stems from both who I am and the communities I’ve grown within. As a queer, neurodivergent, first-generation Iranian-American, I’ve always been mindful of how identity, culture, and relationships shape our experiences. That naturally led me to Marriage and Family Therapy, where I can honor people’s full stories and intersectionalities. Not just as individuals, but in connection with their families, partners, and larger systems that exist. Through my practice, Triple Moon Therapy, I focus on supporting LGBTQIA+ folks, neurodivergent clients, and relationships navigating complex trauma, identity exploration, and interpersonal challenges. For me, therapy isn’t about “fixing” someone…. it’s about walking alongside people as they process, heal, and grow. I view myself as a guide that aids in the attunement of stepping into one’s true self. My own story continues to inform how I show up as a therapist, and I believe that’s what makes this work feel authentic, affirming, and deeply meaningful.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think those challenges are what shaped me into the therapist and small business owner that I am today. I’ve had to work through systemic barriers, deficit-based views of difference, and the pressure to fit into molds that didn’t feel authentic. Starting and growing a private practice has also come with its own learning curve, especially balancing the heart of the work with the realities of running a business. But those struggles are also what make me so passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and anyone who’s felt “othered” or unseen in traditional spaces. My own journey helps me hold space with empathy and authenticity, and create a therapy environment where clients can show up fully as themselves.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Triple Moon Therapy was built on the belief that therapy should be a place where you can be fully yourself and embrace every phase of your life. I work with individuals, couples, polycules, and families, specifically within the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities, who are navigating trauma, identity exploration, relationship struggles, and the stress of daily life. My work blends systemic and trauma-informed perspectives with modalities like experiential therapy, feminist theory, and other postmodern and strength-based ideologies, so that our sessions meet you where you are at. I incorporate holistic approaches, such as sand tray therapy, expressive arts, EMDR, and somatic movement because I believe therapy is not a “one size fits all” matter. What sets me apart is that I don’t treat therapy like a checklist… it’s a collaborative process where I walk alongside you, helping you untangle challenges while also celebrating growth. Triple Moon Therapy is rooted in authenticity, inclusivity, and acceptance, and I want clients to know that they never have to leave parts of themselves at the door.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m really excited about finishing up my PhD program and continuing to grow as a clinician, educator, and a researcher. My doctoral work has given me the opportunity to conduct and publish research on topics I care deeply about, like LGBTQIA+ relationships, gender-affirming care for transgender youth, and supporting neurodivergent clients and clinicians. I’ve also been sharing this work through conference presentations, more recently at Stanford University’s annual Neurodiversity Summit, which has been such a meaningful way to connect with other professionals and bring these conversations to wider audiences. My future goals include continuing to blend clinical practice, teaching, and research so that each informs the other, and so I can keep building more inclusive and affirming spaces for clients and therapists alike. For Triple Moon Therapy, I look forward to expanding resources and community offerings, and allowing the practice to grow alongside the evolving needs of the folk I serve. For me, it’s less about “big drastic changes” and more about steady, meaningful growth — in my work, my research, and the communities I serve.
