Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Berry.
Hi Scott, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have more than a decade of experience as a Senior Executive/Officer in billion-dollar Print Marketing and Direct Mail companies (including as Chief Marketing Officer).
Since 2011, I’ve been the Founder and President of MarketCrest, LLC a Full-Service International award-winning Digital Marketing Agency serving clients primarily in the home services and legal fields.
My perspective comes from working with both best-in-class Fortune 500 clients and entrepreneurs of niche small businesses. I am a former marketing mentor to startups associated with Werx incubator and the McKinney Economic Development corporation.
And in 2017, was invited to join the IAA International Grand Jury Panel to represent the U.S. as a judge for several of their prestigious marketing and creative awards.
I am a married father of 4 grown children and have lived in Plano for 30 years. My hobby is Scuba Diving, and as a co-founder of Scuba Adventures in Plano, we have built one of the top dive shops in the country. We certify over 1000 divers a year and have a massive local and online dive family who dive and travel the world together.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We started out in 2011 offering marketing and sales consulting services, and one service at a time brought digital marketing in-house so we could provide the highest level of return on marketing investment for our clients. So, it was a slow, organic, and manageable growth until Covid shut virtually all of our clients down. The first covid year was the most pivotal one for our agency as closed businesses don’t need to advertise!
Clients were literally turning people away because of government mandates to remain closed for business.
We lost all but 2 of our clients by June but had every single one of them replaced by end of year, slightly outpacing our best year in history. At that point, we expanded our team and capabilities again and have grown revenues every year since 2011.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We have an impeccable history of helping home services companies and law firms whose growth has stalled rapidly and significantly grow.
As a digital marketing agency, we can use social media, Google search, websites, email marketing, video, audio, podcasts, digital press releases, and more to promote a company’s products and services.
What makes us unique in the legal field is we spent two years embedded in a large local immigration law firm with the ability to experiment and test campaigns, ads, and copy to get uncommon results. Soon law firms from Texas to California were requesting the same type of results we achieved right here in Dallas. A year later, we’ve launched our own podcast introducing legal consumers to some of the top U.S. immigration attorneys. It’s our way of giving back and using the relationships we’ve made to provide answers to people’s most common questions about legal immigration.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Until Covid, I was confident that I’d seen everything the world can throw at a business. Learning how to deal with social, legal, online, economic, and political dynamics are only table stakes for today’s entrepreneurs.
The business world is moving faster than at any point in history.
Now employees and businesses must understand how to protect against and take advantage of AI. More than ever business owners can’t reply on luck and timing to maintain success. They need modern systems, processes, technologies, tools, and approaches to business to create sustained success.
