Exploring Life & Business with Shawna Mccarty of Dock Square Staging & Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawna Mccarty

Hi Shawna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I watched my father go back to college in his 40’s. I got to see his entire story from where he started to where he ended in running two successful law firms. Because of this I always knew I had the same drive and determination that he did. My hope and dream was always to one day start my own journey with my own business. I never knew exactly what that was going to be, but here we are today with Dock Square Staging & Design.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some days, yes. Some days, no. I started this business with a zero expierence in home staging. I just have kinda figured it out along the way. . Luckily I do have a good friend that is a realtor in my area that has helped guide me through on this adventure.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dock Square Staging & Design?
I own a home staging buisness. A few years back I went through the home buying process myself. I found that the homes I wanted to go back to visit were the homes that had been fully staged. I understood at that time how important staging really was. What separates me from other local stagers is that I am very hands on. I like to tour every single property that I stage to make sure I get a good feel of the house and what pieces would look best. None of my stages are identical! I make sure each home has that special touch and warmth that will make the buyers pictures themselves and their families living there. I like to say I run a boutique style business.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The power of relationships.
