Exploring Life & Business with Stacey Shortridge of Stacey Shortridge, NTP, ONC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Shortridge.

Hi Stacey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve spent a third of my life happily living in beautiful East Texas. But my upbringing was typical of the 1970s in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Both my birth and childhood, along with my eating habits, have shaped who I am today. My parents did their best with the resources they had, giving us what they believed we needed and making sure we were safe and cared for.

Being a C-section baby fed with formula, along with canned and packaged foods, sweets, chemicals, and medicines—what society usually considers normal—my health was influenced from the start. All these factors shaped who I was, and by my early 20s, my health began to decline. I delved into nutritional healing but fell into the trap of masking symptoms with natural remedies without addressing the root cause. The reason for the symptoms is crucial.

In my 30s and early 40s, I became increasingly ill with autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, and a blood disorder related to cancer. Through diet and lifestyle changes, I avoided seeing an oncologist because my appointment was delayed so long that I reversed my symptoms before my visit.

Although eager to share my knowledge and help others, I lacked the proper credentials. My husband encouraged me to push forward. I completed my Nutritional Therapy certification and then enrolled in the Oncology Nutrition Consultant program, which aligned perfectly with my focus on a food-first approach to disease. The program’s emphasis on therapies like the Metabolic Approach to Cancer, involving a nutrient-dense ketogenic diet, resonated with me because my husband and I had used it ourselves for years. I specialized further by researching nutrigenomics, epigenetics, environmental pollutants, their health impacts, and autism spectrum disorder. I now run a private practice primarily dedicated to cancer support, which I genuinely enjoy. I love my work. My clients’ successes bring me joy, and I empathize deeply with them during setbacks. I look forward to what the future holds.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
An instructor once told me we need to feel uncomfortable to grow, and that lesson has stayed with me. When I have a question, I don’t ask someone else; I research it myself, which helps the information stick and become part of me. Running a private practice constantly challenges me. Currently, I handle everything myself—intake, questions, marketing, blogs, newsletters, local outreach, and a full client load. I’ve had to push myself to learn more about social media and continue improving every day. Additionally, I’ve learned to own my past to change my future by consistently doing the hard things.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Stacey Shortridge, NTP, ONC?
Integrative Oncology is a client-focused, evidence-supported approach to cancer care that complements traditional treatments. Its goal is to improve overall health, quality of life, and clinical results. It empowers clients by giving them a sense of control and encouraging active participation.

My approach goes beyond symptom relief. I aim to restore body balance to help reduce the anxiety linked to a cancer diagnosis. This includes identifying root causes and creating personalized nutrition plans, lifestyle modifications, and targeted supplements tailored to a person’s needs. I am also experienced in how food and supplements can enhance conventional treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. I can work together with a person’s medical team to provide additional specialized support. The ultimate aim is to foster long-term health and wellness while lowering the risk of cancer recurrence.

In a nutshell, I do not diagnose or treat. I’m here to support a person whether they’re interested in preventing cancer, have been diagnosed and want to explore options before pursuing conventional treatments, are undergoing treatment and aim to enhance its effectiveness and support their body’s recovery, or are in remission and want to maintain it. Addressing the root cause of cancer is essential, as neglecting it often leads to recurrence. My goal is to remove the fear surrounding cancer and empower a person to take control of their health.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
When I consider who else has played a significant role in my journey, my husband immediately comes to mind. He is my reliable supporter who has always believed in my potential. His encouragement has motivated me to grow beyond my former self and become who I am today. I value his patience as I pursued additional credentials, and he continues to be supportive whenever I share new ideas or get excited about discoveries that make me feel alive. No one in my life deserves more recognition in this story than he does.
