Exploring Life & Business with Stacy Parker of Ebby Halliday Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Parker.

Hi Stacy, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My story is pretty simple, I never dreamed of being a realtor®, I thought I would be perfectly happy in my corporate job, and I was content with how much I had accomplished thus far. My significant other became very interested and passionate about real estate, owning real estate, and real estate businesses. Enough of that excitement rubbed off on me, and I wanted to find a way to play a part in building something, I just didn’t know what or how at that time. We bought our first home in McKinney, TX (summer of 2019) and one day were walking around the neighborhood and just so happen to run into an investor who was flipping a home a street down from us. He was super friendly and was talking about all the renovations he was doing to the home; I didn’t say much but just listened as my boyfriend and him conversed. He then out of nowhere turned to me and said, “you should get your real estate license.” I kind of thought that was random, but deep down flattered that this complete stranger thought I was capable of becoming that. After that day, it’s like the stars aligned; I was denied a job promotion, then stripped away of my current job title. After those shocking changes, I signed up for my real estate classes and then a global pandemic hit the planet. I swore I had the worst timing ever, but I powered forward and by the end of that crazy year, I quit my stable 9-5 and began pursuing real estate full-time. Fast forward to 2023 and I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy and am fulfilled in doing this career; I genuinely love to help people with their real estate needs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ummm no, the road to get here wasn’t always easy. When I started, I had 6 months of savings in my account and that was it, I made no backup plan whatsoever; I just said I’m either going to sink or swim. Month 6 was approaching fast, and I was doing everything I could to get my name out there, and FINALLY a family member of mine was ready for me to sell their house. By the grace of god a month later I was closing on that home as well as a good friend of mine was in escrow first their first home. From day one I was forced to come out of my comfort zone, and since then I am constantly facing my own fears and rejection of others. I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t deal with regular stress and anxiety; however, through my trials and tribulations I grew as a person and that by far has been one of the best gifts this career has ever given me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am very proud to be an agent in the Ebby Halliday brokerage; it was and is a good foundation for me to start my real estate business. Their mission statement and something I try to embody daily is “People First, Lasting Relationships, and Elevating Real Estate.” As I go into my third year of real estate, my goal is to make it into my brokerage’s honor role, top 40 agents in the brokerage. My services include listing homes, buying pre-owned and new builds, listing rentals, and helping folks navigate the lease market as a tenant. I service all price points, and I cover all of DFW! I have a background in home building, and I have my GRI certification. I believe in being a lifelong student of real estate and out working everyone else around you.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
This is a great question, I have been very blessed in finding a mentor, my sales leader Tiffany Anderson. I think a good rule of thumb when finding a mentor or just networking, in general, is finding the connection with people. If you choose to listen before you speak you’ve already made yourself stand out. I try not to talk real estate with people, I rather talk about the deep shit that makes us all who we are. In the end, people will do business will people they like and trust. Build relationships, not transactions.
