Today, we’d like to introduce you to the Venue Directors of Sunago Bell, Rhonda Tovar and Kristen Pulido.
Hi Rhonda and Kristen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2019, we were fortunate enough to acquire the top floor of the Wells Fargo building to create a Wedding and Event Space. We came from different career backgrounds and worked together to build a space unique to Denton. If you’ve never been to Sunago Bell, it has the best view of Downtown Denton. Once inside the space, a 360-degree view of downtown and surrounding areas is revealed due to our floor-to-ceiling windows. This unique feature dictated the rest of the design for the space. Sunago Bell has a modern industrial aesthetic perfect for someone wanting a memorable event. For the past year and half, we have been fortunate enough to host many successful events such as weddings, rehearsal dinners, baby showers, birthdays, engagements; you name it, we’ve hosted it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like everyone else, we began this journey during Covid. We began designing and renovating the space in 2019 but, unfortunately, had to pause due to Covid restrictions. We were doing our best to keep things moving and promote our space with all of the particulars in mind. But through it all, we had great clients and successful events.
As you know, we’re big fans of Sunago Bell. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Sunago Bell is a Wedding and Event Space which hosts many types of events. We are an all-inclusive venue, except for catering. However, anyone who books the venue can bring their caterer of choice, and we also have some great recommendations.
What sets us apart are our 300 suspended, handblown, amber-lit bulbs which create the perfect mood for any event. The venue offers stunning, panoramic views set in a space that provides modern elegance.
We our most proud of the personalization that goes into every event by us and our staff. You might even catch us tearing up during ceremonies.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
For work, we love the Instagram Betches Brides because they bring a little humor to what can be a very hectic job. Green Wedding Shoes is a great Instagram for event inspiration.
For our everyday life, we love listening to podcasts. Some of our favorites are Smartless, and Conan O’Brien needs a Friend. And for Kristen, who has 2 little ones, she listens to the Raising Good Humans Podcast, so she can raise Good Humans.
