Hi Susie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For over a decade, I built a successful career in banking, which provided stability for my family as a single mother. While the career was fulfilling in its own way, I always yearned for a path that offered a more flexible, low-stress environment where I could make a direct impact on the lives of others.
During the COVID pandemic, I experienced a cosmetic procedure and required massage therapy to aid in my recovery. It was during this journey that I discovered a passion for massage therapy and its potential to help others heal and feel their best. Working from home during this time also gave me a deeper appreciation for creating an environment where comfort and well-being are prioritized.
After much reflection and making difficult personal decisions, I took a leap of faith, leaving my banking career behind and enrolling in massage school. That step allowed me to pursue my dream of opening my own spa, where I now specialize in post-operative care and non-invasive treatments to help women recover and achieve their body goals. My work is driven by the desire to empower others, offering them the support and care they deserve on their journeys to feeling confident and whole.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has certainly had its challenges. Attending college while adhering to a strict budget was a difficult balancing act. It took a great deal of faith to leave a stable, full-time job and pursue the dream of creating my own path. With the unwavering support of my family, scholarships and careful financial planning, I was able to complete my education and invest all of my savings into opening a small business. This decision allowed me to create meaningful employment for myself, and ultimately pursue my passion on my own terms.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a licensed massage therapist specializing in post-operative care and non-invasive body contouring treatments. What distinguishes me is my personal experience as a post-operative patient, having undergone cosmetic surgery myself. This allows me to truly empathize with my clients and understand their unique needs on a deeper level. My passion for wellness drives me to help others feel their absolute best, both physically and mentally. I am dedicated to going above and beyond for my clients, offering personalized care and flexible solutions to ensure their healing and body treatment goals are met, while also being mindful of their budgets. My mission is to empower individuals to feel confident and achieve their wellness goals.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I view myself as a risk taker, especially when it comes to pursuing my passions. Leaving a corporate career of nearly 13 years to follow a dream was something I never imagined doing, yet it became a pivotal moment in my life. I believe that certain life experiences push us to reflect and make bold decisions, often leading us exactly where we need to be. Everything happens for a reason, and while taking a leap of faith has been the most significant risk of my life, I have no regrets. This journey has taught me the importance of pushing forward, as there are always more dreams to accomplish.
