Hi Tarsjah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Newly divorced, after 20yrs of being married with four children and a grandchild. With 2 children in college, I found myself in need of additional income. After months of brainstorming and planning, I decided it was time to reinvent myself. I weighed many option as to what move would prove to be the most beneficial for my family. I met with Anthony Landry the Market Director for Ozone Vodka in the Louisiana Region. He made me a partnership offer for Texasand we hit the ground running. A grassroots project to market a Lithuanian vodka in the United States. I was introduced to Lissette and Jordan the Global Marketing team for the US. I went from being a Compliance Officer during the day to an international Marketing Executive nights and weekends.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a woman of color, in an industry dominated by men, the task was very difficult. Sex and alcohol sells. So in reinventing myself, I had to change my entire appearance, attitude, and my way thinking. What I learned out in the clubs was a reality check at best. I’m predominately Caucasian clubs I didn’t have to do much more than show up with the product, some material, and bottle girls to just an event. At the predominantly African American clubs I found myself surrendering to a plethora of terms to host a similar event. Basically giving up the kitchen sink.
