Exploring Life & Business with The Dunham Farm of The Dunham Farm LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Dunham Farm.

Hi The Dunham Farm, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Five generations of Dunham family have made The Dunham Farm a success. Hard work is a staple of course but a love for animals is the lifeblood that gets you pumped up every day for that hard work on the farm. As a family of educators in public private and charter school scenarios helps the dream become a reality. Many of the Dunham’s have careers as experts in animal science professions. Over the decades we have raised and cared for hundreds of different species of animals birds fish and reptiles.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The dichotomy of the greatest hardships in life teaching us the most is ever present on a farm. Something instilled in every generation in the Dunham family is the sanctity of life. When you grow up on a farm, you see life and you see death and sometimes the hardships animals go through are at the hands of the responsibility of a young person learning those lessons…. Yes, when you know that because you left a gate open and the predators got in and it was your responsibility that teaches you something that is hard to find elsewhere in life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Dunham Farm Wildlife Park is the Pinnacle of all that we do on the farm. It brings everything together that God has gifted us to do.. we open up our farm to the public for immersive encounters with our Wildlife where people get to go inside the enclosures and feed and pet and hug and take pictures with …basically people get to just love on our capybara, wallaby, giant tortoises, dwarf bunnies etc etc etc

Any big plans?
We’re probably not far off in the next handful of years for a generational shift taking over the farm currently. Grandpa still runs the farm…. And everyone is committed when this occurs to keep the same family friendly, educational immersive experiences that people have grown to love… We keep it varied down to earth. Very personal. We are not just a new Farm trying to go back and be like the olden days… We are a family farm that is passed on the values. The work ethic, the care and when people experience it… it is unmistakably genuine.
