Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Gaddis.
Todd, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We moved to Dallas in 2012. I wife, Kayla Gaddis, OD, is from Allen originally. I am from Louisiana. We were living in a small town in Louisiana where we were both successful. We decided to move to the Dallas area when our children became school-age. We felt it was a good opportunity for Kayla to start a practice and after extensive searching, for a location, we fell in love with Adriatica Village in McKinney and opened a small start-up optometry office, Blink Eyecare, in 1400 square feet in November 2013. I went to work as a Hospitalist and ER doctor. Over the years Blink Eyecare has grown tremendously and we were able to build a brand new 7000-square-foot space in Adriatica behind the original location.
In this space, there was room for me to go back to the kind of medicine I love, Anti-Aging Medicine, and we opened Body by Blink along with the Grand opening of the New Blink Eyecare in September 2022.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening a medical clinic from scratch is a daunting task. No patients immediately walking through the door, so it takes some time to build up trust in the community to grow and then COVID hit. This was an especially hard challenge in a medical clinic. We had to be on top of everything covid and do everything we could to keep the doors open in order to survive as a business. During this time, I was traveling and offering my services to many hospitals struggling with staffing. I was on the front lines when the 1st cases of COVID arrived in our area. We managed through and Blink Eyecare ended up thriving because of it.
The build-out of the new clinic was also a major challenge with supplies and labor being in short supply.

After receiving his Medical Doctorate in 2001 from St. Christophers College of Medicine, Dr. Gaddis entered a Family Medicine residency at Baton Rouge General, where he emphasized cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic medicine.
