Exploring Life & Business with Tracey Carrasco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Carrasco.

Hi Tracey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was fortunate to have been able to do a lot of international travels to Asia, Europe, South America, and Central America before I became a mother. In each place, I was able to see so much beauty in their local food, traditions, nature, human interactions, and overall culture. This really was the reason that made me fall in love with photography. When I became a mother, I wanted to be able to capture every single moment of my daughter growing up. She really was the inspiration and the heart behind my photography business. She was not only my muse in the early stages of photography, but she made me realize so many families out there go through their own life experiences and need these moments captured on film. It’s rare nowadays to be able to pass something invaluable along from one generation to another. Just by glancing at a picture, it can conjure up certain memories, reminding you of where you were, how you were feeling and even the distinctive scent that was possibly around you. You can’t put a price tag on a baby’s first step, the first day of kindergarten, high school graduation, a proposal, a wedding, the start of a family and your life journey. This is the inspiration of why I started a photography business and it’s a daily reminder of why I enjoy and love the art of photography so deeply.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the challenges that crossed my path was figuring out how to juggle family life, working long hours at my corporate job and trying to start up a successful photography business. I quickly learned balancing all three factors boiled down to personal organization and accountability. I have a mobile phone calendar along with a physical calendar booklet where I have both personal family appointments/events as well as professional photography sessions written down so I can visually see what days are available or booked. It’s great to be able to double-check on both ends to ensure there aren’t any events overlapping or any possible mistakes on my end. I make sure there’s an even balance between spending time with my family and having enough time to dedicate to my photography business. Thankfully as clients picked up and sessions were booked more consistently, I was able to eventually leave my corporate job to fully focus on expanding and growing my photography business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Family, Lifestyle and Wedding photographer in the Frisco, Texas area. What sets me apart from the other photographers in the area is that I am able to cover many different types of mediums in photography. I have experience shooting corporate business headshots, weddings, maternity, newborn, family sessions to business branding, master-planned community events to restaurant food photography. I am extremely proud of taking my long-time love of travel photography and turning it into a successful business where I get to meet so many amazing clients who return for future sessions or send new customers by word of mouth. Since I am able to cover several different types of mediums, my clientele are able to come to me for any occasion that comes up without having to find a different photographer that specializes in only one type of photography. Throughout the year, I offer many types of seasonal sessions that include Valentine’s, bluebonnets/wildflower, summer sunflowers, fall and Christmas themes.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have been fortunate to reside in a master-planned community that has a Lifestyle Director who plans monthly events for the residents. I have been the booked photographer at some of these events. I always say it starts small and right in your backyard. It’s lovely to have the neighborhood community recognize that you are a photographer with a photography business and are supportive in giving me these opportunities to shoot these events. With the love and support from my Frisco community, I have been able to branch outside and work with other nearby master-planned communities and clientele. Word of mouth, recommendations from previous Frisco clients and online social media business forums have been helpful and vital in growing and making my photography business a success.
