Today we’d like to introduce you to Tylecia Smith.
Hi Tylecia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been doing hair for many years in different cities but once I hopped off the porch in Dallas I finally felt like I was in the right place at the right time. I always keep God with me and one day after working my day shift job I got the feeling that something was missing and I was reminded of my gifts so I jumped out on faith and opened a booking website and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made! God has blessed me with ambition combined with connecting with the right people to create some really magical moments! I really look forward to things coming up in the future and I’m grateful for where I am.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
it is challenging deciding what your next move is and what’s is for you in the industry. My struggles have been finding my niche and my tribe of people. I do feel like my struggles are behind me. I believe most people as we grow things don’t necessarily get easier but familiar. Of course we still have or challenges but we get stronger.

I am a hairstylist in the dfw area and I specialize in wig placement including lace wigs, health hair care and silk press, extensions of all kinds and wedding hairstyles . I’m most known for being able to cater to several different groups of people. And my proudest moment would be me just taking a chance on myself and putting my talents out there also participating in DIFFA for my second year in a row and seeing my hair designs on stage. I would want readers to know not to put yourself in a box and be willing to try new looks and different methods that I myself can provide as a stylist. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To not dwell on things! Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from completing the task at hand. Don’t get caught up in emotions and taking things like failure personally. Stay focused on your why! Like Cardi B said, Get up 10!
