Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Pizzonia.
victor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Originally from NYC, we moved to Texas in 1997. Throughout the years our family had restaurants in the DFW area, so we grew up in the business and always had a passion for it. In 2015 I got out of the restaurant business and went into the financial world. I always knew that one day I wanted to own my own restaurant. In 2021 I moved to a little town called Oak Point. It is such a beautiful town right near lake Lewisville. Once I moved to Oak Point I noticed the need for a nice sit down Italian restaurant. My sister Jessica was managing a steak house at the time and we thought the time was right to start our own restaurant. We both wanted a more elevated style restaurant but also very family friendly. We came up with the concept of La Rustica. We offer authentic Italian cuisine with a modern twist, including family recipes. We have been up for almost a year and a half now, and have been so lucky to have the customers we do that have become friends and even family to us. We love that we’ve become a staple in the community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road starting off. Anytime that you have construction, things tend to go wrong and take longer then originally thought. On our opening day in the middle of July in Texas heat our AC went out and it was 90 degrees inside the restaurant. As for any new restaurant that opens, there are kinks that need to be worked out and it takes a few months for those to happen and to make traction in progress. It can also be hard to find people who see the same vision as you do for the quality of food and service that you are trying to put out. We are very fortunate to have the team that sees the vision that we do.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a family-owned authentic Italian restaurant. We offer indoor and outdoor seating, with a brand-new renovated patio, both intimate and lively in their own ways. From date nights, night-caps, or celebrations, we’ve become the go-to place in Oak Point and surrounding cities. What sets us apart is that we use fresh ingredients, fresh handmade pasta and old family recipes that have been passed down through generations. You can always expect a warm welcome from the moment you walk in to the end of the night. Once you step in the restaurant we want you to fell like family. We are proud of the the food product and the service that we provide to our guests.
We also offer catering for any size event or gathering. We have done weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs and so on.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
my favorite childhood memory is as a young boy helping my father in the kitchen washing dishes. It started the passion that I have for the restaurant business
