Heather, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I have been feeling proud of taking 2nd place in the local pitch cometion, it was 6 months ago but the journey was incredible!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I am Heather Walker and I am the owner and operator of Brite Smiles by Heather. Brite Smiles by Heather is a teeth whitening studio outside of a dental office. We are unique in the fact we offer teeth whitening at an affordable price in our studio on the Denton Square and we offer mobile services. Brite Smiles has been in business since January 2022. In 2024 we started offering mobile teeth whitening services. Brite Smiles can come to your home or office, all of our equipment is mobile. I had the idea of having a private teeth whitening studio because the dentist environment can be very scary for people. My studio is very calm and relaxing, I get wonderful feed back from my clients on how comfortable the environment is. What’s more confortable than your own home and that was the inspiration of offering mobile services.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
To know me is to know I am a people person. People have a hard time believing that I was a shy child. I didn’t want to speak to adults or even speak in front of others. I did not believe in my own voice. I doubted the choices I made due to being shy. I hated this about myself and I turned my thinking around. I started to trust in myself and my own voice. Confidence is such a gift and it can come naturally to some. For myself, I had to take action and put myself in uncomfortable situations until they became comfortable.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The hard and simple answer is YES! The other truth is I still have those feelings. It can truly be a day to day thought. I can have a super busy day and be on top of the world and then the opposite can be true. I believe in myself and my business and Brite Smiles by Heather is here to stay
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Truth! I value truth to it’s core. My friends would definetly say I am honest and truthful. Truth can take many forms from friendships to business relationships. The relationships are different but they are all based on truthfulness
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Last fall was a pretty amazing experience. I entered to compete in a local Pitch competition and over 40 people had applied. I was chosen to the semifinals and then to the final 10 contestants. The competiton took place with local figures and a panel of judges. I was chosen to present my idea (my pitch) 2nd to last. We all had 5 minutes and then 5 minutes of Q&A. I ended up winning 2nd place and 3000$ plus the exposure to my business. I was tap dancing for days
